I want to hear your headcannons for the boys comforting styles are! Like how does Osomatsu comfort someone compared to say Todomatsu.??

Osomatsu thinks he's... really not good at this kind of thing? He feels so awkward trying to comfort people, particularly people he's really close to. His immediate instinct is to crack jokes, which may be comforting to some people but not for everyone. It also depends on the reason; he's better at comforting people who are physically hurt or sick than anything emotional. That said, he can be surprisingly in tune with what someone would like if he's close to them. His big specialty is full-on hugs, holding someone really close, almost in a way that looks like he's trying to coil his whole self around them. He's not perfect, but he's a lot better than he thinks he is.

Karamatsu was almost kind of born for this job, he's a very sensitive soul so he knows the instant someone needs comfort. ... As long as he's paying attention, of course. He loves to be close to people, so if he can make someone feel a little better or feel validated or just let them cry on his shoulder, he's willing to do whatever seems best for them. So he does. He's a very good listener, so if someone wants to talk and rant and vent, he's there to make sure they know what they're feeling isn't just no big deal even if it seems like a small thing. His big specialty is one-armed hugs and cuddling, trying to give comfort with just his mere presence and closeness.

Choromatsu is similar to Osomatsu in that he feels really awkward trying to comfort someone, because he just doesn't know what to say or do and he's so afraid of doing or saying the wrong thing. He tries hard to let the other person know that he's here and if they need or want him to do anything, he'll do it. He just... needs a little direction, maybe? He often looks even more distressed than the person he's comforting. His big specialty is to hold their hand, giving little squeezes, rubbing his thumb over the back of their hand, anything to be comforting while being as unobtrusive as possible.

Ichimatsu is another one who thinks he's horrible at this, because how could he not be? He doesn't even really know how to comfort himself, much less someone else, obviously. It's hard for him just due to the fact that he does care so much and has so much trouble expressing it. He tries so hard that he ends up freezing, thinking of everything he could be doing, until suddenly he makes some big move. His big specialty is to let the other person rest their head in his lap, gently petting their hair, like he might do with a cat.

Jyushimatsu is better at this than one might think, because he's more observant than people think he is. He's off in his own world sometimes, sure, but he's also here in the one with everyone else a lot of the time too. He likes to just watch the other person for a little bit, trying to figure out what he thinks they might need. His big specialty is to do his absolute damnedest to make them smile or laugh. He's pretty sure if he can do that, then... well, it's a start.

Totty likes to pretend he feels in control when he comforts someone, but the truth is, whenever someone he loves is in need of comfort, he gets a little upset himself. Not that he's necessarily super empathetic, it just hurts him to see someone he cares about suffering, and he wants them to feel better... he knows all he can really do is be there for him. His big specialty is cuddles and kisses, hoping that if nothing else, he can remind them how much he loves them. That counts for a lot, right?

Headcannon I wanted to share: Osomatsu isn't allowed to give himself medication when he's sick 'cause he will misread an amount and or forget he already took some earlier and take twice the necessary amount and get really loopy.

bonus points? the dumbass does it anyway, not even thinking, and then his baby brothers all scold him because they think he's just drunk

of course they all feel like crap and try to make it up to him when they find out the truth, but would make for some sweet sweet angst

it's also a lil funny because he's the one who handles making sure all the others are taking medicine correctly, but he can't do it for himself because he gets 5 times more himbo when he feels like shit

Whump Todomatsu headcannon: Totty is afraid of the dark because, on very rare occasions, he experiences sleep paralysis. Worst yet is that his brothers just think he's having a really bad nightmare and brush it off.

tbf that’s probably not the only reason for that fear, but I can see it being one of several reasons!

after the first couple times and/or once it actually clicks for one of the others what’s going on, they stop brushing it off because holy shit their poor baby brother that’s TERRIFYING

good thing he sleeps between his two oldest brothers, once they know what’s going on they’re very vigilant about taking care of him 😌

Do you think the boys have reactions from stress or a heavy emotion? For example: if I get too angered by something for a long period of time, I actually break out in hives.

that happens to me sometimes too, I get hives when I'm stressed and anxious, usually only on the backs of my hands tho... for like three days after my grandpa's funeral I had hives on both hands, oof

my biggest most notable headcanon about this is that I think Choromatsu gets nauseous when he's anxious!

annnnd also, when Karamatsu is anxious or under a lot of stress, he'll often get a flare-up of acne

or how about the fact that Ichimatsu is depressed and often emotionally numb, so that when he does feel something strongly (usually sadness or anger, sometimes fear) he sort of gets a sore throat

... I also wonder if maybe conversion disorder is a thing for some of them, it's not the same as just simple reactions like this but it's sort of in a similar neighborhood XD

ANYWAY this is an interesting concept so if anyone else has more thoughts about it, hit me!!

❤️ Osomatsu doesn't have anything specific, unless you count doing some gambling as a ritual. Well, more gambling than usual... which means he loses more money than usual. Oops. It does actually make him feel a little better emotionally, though as with most addicts, the high doesn't last for long. It mostly serves to take his mind off feeling shitty for long enough that he can have an hour or so of relief before the worst of it sets in.

💙 Karamatsu has a sort-of-almost-it's-kind-of-a-ritual for when he feels like he's coming down with something. He either makes tea or kayu and adds a healthy helping of umeboshi to it. Although it's largely just a 'sick day habit' as opposed to any real remedy, he swears by it, particularly for anything that causes a sore throat. It does soothe things a bit, but it's like 20% that and 80% for emotional comfort reasons.

💚 Choromatsu doesn't have a I'll-do-this-and-it'll-cure-me!! ritual as much as he has a routine for when he isn't feeling well. Usually after he's actually accepted that he's gonna be out of commission for a bit, whenever he's camped out on the couch, he watches a couple specific movies and reads specific books. Or, as much as he can between resting. It helps emotionally, that he can find solace in something familiar while he feels like crap.

💜 Ichimatsu just kind of does the same thing he might do any other day, and cuddles with his cats. That makes him feel better in general, so, why not, right? Though, depending on what kind of not feeling well it is, he has a collection of cat-themed first aid things he'll always use. An ice pack shaped like a cat that says meowch, cat-patterned bandages, that kind of thing. If he breaks that stuff out, it's kind of like a ritual when he's really not feeling well. It's half-and-half for physical recovery and emotionally feeling better.

💛 Jyushimatsu doesn't have a set ritual, except that he just clings to his brothers that much more when he starts to notice he isn't feeling great. He'll curl up with whoever seems most receptive to cuddling, usually Ichimatsu but not infrequently some of the others, and tries to sleep. It's mainly for emotional comfort, because often feeling sick or hurt just makes him want to be with his brothers. But the sleeping part definitely helps physically, since sleep is the best thing when someone's trying to heal.

💖 Totty's usual ritual, as soon as he feels like he's coming down with something, is to try every home remedy he remembers. Shogayu, negi-miso-yu, yuzu-cha, green tea, orange juice, anything to send sickness back to where it came from. He hates being sick so much, the ritual he has around it is more to try and keep it from blossoming than to make him feel better when it finally sets in. Predictably, although it sometimes makes the physical symptoms a little less severe, it's more to make him feel better emotionally and lessen anxiety than anything else.

Puzzle Pieces Karamatsu headcannon: he tries really hard at first to be the 'cool and tough' older brother that doesn't need an older brother himself. Until Osomatsu ruffles his hair or something small and he doesnt know how to handle it at all

bonus points in that the others, for once, actually do think he's cool

he plays guitar in coffee shops and had a girlfriend once and has a leather jacket and sunglasses!! how can they NOT think he's cool??? sugoi!!!! 💙

Karamatsu always thought if he had brothers or sisters they'd all be younger than him, he's still trying to accept that he has a big brother and he gets shy around Osomatsu because he just doesn't know how to act around an older brother dsjfdkljfka MY POOR BOY
