Jared had left his coven behind about a year ago. He had been sick and tired of being the leader of a pack of brats and he had said so. Of course there had been the begging and pleading, but he had just ignored it all, packed his bags and left.
Moving got easier when you got older.
Jared didn’t really have anyone he was close to, not after his brother had died… his human brother that is. Shannon had never allowed Jared to turn him and so, without anyone he had ever sired, Jared was alone.
Most of the time he kind of liked it that way, sometimes he got fed up with it.
Today he was in particular dark mood. Digging deep into his memory, he had remembered that his birthday was coming up. His human one. He tried to forget that he had once been weak, sickly, ageing, dying… But right now, he couldn’t escape his memories and they haunted him.
He had lived in the shadows for nearly 150 years and for just once he would like to see the sun again. He had marvelled at the sight of the sun in cinemas, but he couldn’t feel its warmth and at times it drove him crazy and he cursed his maker for turning him.
“I could just try.” He muttered to himself as he took an easy jump atop a roof in the quiet neighbourhood of the town he currently resided in. He had forgotten the name already and it wasn’t important to him.
“I can get back inside before it hurts too much…” Jared was going to try and hey, if he died, he would at least die a happy man.
