I was wondering if you could tell us more about Seren? Like what happened to him and why he seems to hate Vantojest so much? (He also seems super sweet and deserves all the hugs.)
Sorry I took so long to answer this. I wanted to draw for it, but I took so long to get to this/IRL is sometimes busy/motivation and will are a mess, that I forgot what exactly I wanted to do + ideas are muddled. So I’ll just…type it.
@thecheckerhoard is free to correct me or change anything, since this does involve their OC Vantojest (and Leela).
So, I’ll skip the superfluous stuff. Know that Seren and Vanto knew each other from way back when they were smol kiddies. Like…I think there may have been a 5 year gap or smth and they were still kids s o ye.
They met Leela eventually on the streets. Her parents took the two in. Seren grew up loving those two more than just siblings (and felt grossed out by himself for it, along with a few other things).
Eventually stuff happened, Seren and Vanto fought with Leela in the middle, and they all went their separate ways. But Seren never stopped caring s o ye.
Ended up becoming a Robin Hood-esque thief/assassin, stealing from the rich to give to the poor. Eventually becoming a little too proud/showy, but never stopped caring for people. But ye.
Onto why Seren hates Vanto.
Disclaimer: He doesn’t flat out HATE Vanto, it’s more of a conflict of emotions, all blended with feeling hurt and betrayed. But onto what happened.
Eventually, Seren got ambushed/attacked and Vanto/Leela got caught in the middle. Seren, because he has a big frickin heart and loves those “angels”, stayed and tried to protect them (instead of escaping, which he probs could have done).
He died. He woke up in the Underwhere. But guess who was the person guarding him while he was in a got dangidy cell?
Vantojest.
Was it Vanto’s job? Yes. And you don’t really argue with the Queen of the Underwhere, now do you?
So, Seren’s been stuck in isolation for centuries. The only interactions he’s had were with D-Man peeps telling him how history remembers him as a horrible, selfish monster, Jaydes probs doing the same (maybe, if that’s part of her job, to check on the stronger peeps), and Vanto just watching him through the Phanto Masks.
This is why Serendivinare is so bitter. He just...feels betrayed that one of the people he loved so much and DIED for ended up watching him like it was nothing. Y e .
