Summary: It's December, Christmas is in the air and they say snow will fall before the 25th this year.

When Marco's little brother asks for a picture with Santa Claus, Marco takes him downtown to meet one of the several Saint Nicholas sitting in front of a Polaroid. What he doesn't anticipate however is that under the fake fluffy beard of the man, he'll find a name to write on top of his wish list.

In which Jean doesn't like children but take pictures with them anyway and Marco can't say no to his little brother (or at least it’s what they say).

A/N: I know, I promise to finish up the actual AU but I realize how much fight scenes aren't my strong suit, I'm sorry! But... to prevent myself from losing my FE:a au mojo and giving you a present for your special day, I decided the next best thing- a four part mini-series, inspired by the supports system in fire emblem: awakening, involving Marco and Jean!

This is heavily influence by Fire emblem awakening! In this au, Marco is set to be a taguel while Jean is a cavalier!

Fast and fierce, the Taguels were  especially known for. At least that what Jean was told. An ancient beast-transformer species were fabled to be astounding warriors, renowned for their strength but also for rumored to be cold and reclusive nature. Threatening enough to even catch eye of the previous ruler, the Mad King; though in the end the species was wiped out, its been written down that the Taguels gave a tough run and lasted longer despite often being out numbered. That being said, wouldn’t it conjure up the image of a taguel being this large and intimidating opponent? Correct?

In Jean’s case, that what he always imagined. But… what you expect and what you get, might not always result in the same?

“Marco, I know you’re there.”

Silence.

“Hiding won’t make me go away. Marco, come out.

More silence.

Jean took a step closer to large, supply boxes, only to warrant a small squeak of “Don’t you dare come closer.” Peering out from over the box, furrowed eyes glared  back. “I’m w-warning you. Not another step!” Sinking lower behind the box, Marco’s voice came out muffled and with a slight shake. “You have fooled me once already, I will not do what you have asked of me.”

Marco was the last of the taguel; a fighter worthy of his species’ legacy, who even gave Jean, himself, a run for his money when it came to a one-on-one but the freckled beast-shifter was neither cold or reclusive, as the historians written down. While very timid at times, especially when he first joined, Marco proved to be nothing short of charming- he certainly eased his way into being accepted by many of the shepherds and  gentle disposition whenever he interacted with anyone. If anyone, honestly, Jean would’ve guessed he had an ulterior motive yet for what the taguel been through, he seemed honestly genuine. He hadn’t witness a person that Marco did not like.

Erm, well, except with one person: Hanji.

The sorceress was known, infamous really, within Shepherds for her eccentric ways of going about things, especially when it came down to researching and testing out new theories. Though both an old friend of Erwin and being one of mentors for most of the mage recruits, it did take a while for anyone to get use to her ways- heck, Jean known her for a good few years now, but she still scares the living daylights of him as if he was still a newly recruited.

And he could honestly understand Marco did not want to see her. Sometimes, when something or in this, someone,  catches her interest, they might be subjected to her thirst of experimentation.

This time around, that person of interest happened to be Marco.

With a sigh, Jean brushing aside Marco’s warnings and continued to come close. “Marco…” The taguel flatten his large rabbit ears, still glaring. “I know you’re upset-”

“-Why wouldn’t I be? The mad witch nearly zapped of my poor tail with that blasted lightening spell!” He cried, no longer peering from behind his hiding spot and Jean fully seeing the cute-- uh, the angry, non-cute pout he had.  Jean winced internally- okay, well, it was kind of his fault for not warning him beforehand on how Hanji liked to test out statement and other people’s ability. Marco came out unscathed, since he was indeed quicker than her strike and proved how quick the Taguel’s reaction time but… its safe to say, Marco was long gone after that and for the rest of the evening as well. He needed confront her at some point, because he did not like what he was told afterwards. And felt extremely guilty for as well.

His cheek colored slight, lowering his gaze and shifted foot to foot. “And I know, Marco, I came here to say sorry. I really am. I came here, not to ask you to go back but to apologize for yesterday.” He said solemnly, “I thought she might’ve gone a bit easier on you, but… y’know.”

Marco paused. When Jean stole a small glance, he noticed the glare soften a bit and there was less of a frown. “...Oh. I assumed you came here to drag back to the witch or something.” Marco mumbled the last part as well as his cheeks coloring as well. “Well, you seem sincere…”

“Well of course.” He grumbled, giving a small shrug, “I guess I owe you one, sending you her way before.”Rolling his eyes, Jean crossed his arms as he looked down at Marco and chuckled. Honestly, he had to give the guy some credit though- the storage room that kept mainly the food and healing supplies was a brilliant place to hide. Neither him or Hanji would think, and if it wasn’t for the tip off from Petra, he would’ve never gone this way to begin with.  

“But, I also came looking for you since I have a favor to ask.” Jean chuckled at the sudden drop at the taguel’s expression and again, his ears drooped. “Don’t worry, it has nothing to do with Hanji or anyone really.”

Marco frowned, as he nod for Jean to continued, though still a bit guarded and wary. “...And what would that be?”

“Well, I was assign this a quick mission to check out the nearby town. Nothing big. Maybe help out with the thievery problem they  been having. But neither my usuals, Armin or Connie, are around for this sort of thing.”

He still wasn’t convinced. “And you would like me to accompany you?”

“Yes. Very much. Either you or the knucklehead, Eren. And I would like to have a headache free trip, y’know.” Jean added, scratching his cheek with a sheepish sort of smile. “I mean, I do prefer your presence way more than him.”

Stroking one of his large ears, Marco glanced away, his cheeks only grew a bit redder and a pleased smile started to grow on his own face.

Hm, well one more push? “If you come, you’d probably avoid Hanji for a few more days? Maybe more.”

“When do we leave?”
