A Dark Lesson: Scar and Kovu
Scar walked through the edge of the Pridelands with the little cub in tow, heading for the northern border. However, he could tell that the cub had started slowing down. He was probably hungry. Scar was a little peckish himself. He turned to the cub. "So your mother has been teaching you how to hunt and fight yes? But I wonder if she has taught you all the tricks of the trade. How about I catch us some lunch. Maybe you could learn a thing or too."
Scar spotted the large wildebeest herd grazing around the river and by the gorge. Scar knew he was not as strong as other lions, so traditional hunting was out of the question. However, he was a master at misdirection. He told the cub to stay put, then went to a rock that lifted him a few feet off the ground. He flattened himself to make sure as little of himself was seen as possible and turned his head to the side, towards the gorge. He gave a powerful roar that echoed through the gorge. Startled, the herd started moving away from the gorge, where they thought the sound originated, and moved straight for Scar. Scar smiled knowing his plan worked and waited until the first wildebeest ran by. When it did, he sprung his trap and launched himself over the rock. He pounced right on an unsuspecting wildebeest cow and locked his jaws on her windpipe. The confused herd quickly changed and moved in the opposite direction. When he felt the prey go limp, he let go and called Kovu over for lunch.
