“Quite”. Scar remarked. “And it is true that I have met mages in the past, though I scarcely knew them. My father will tolerate their presence when needed, but he is wary of magic. I’ll admit to being curious about matters of the arcane but when I realized I had no aptitude for the art I moved on to other things…” Scar trailed off as he adjusted his posture once more. Normally he could stand quite still but he was still trying to contain his excitement.

“May I be so bold as to hazard a guess?” he asked before continuing without giving her a chance to respond. “I know Empress Celene is a long-term veteran of the game. And with such a high position, she stands to lose the most if she were to fail. The business with the Grand Duke in particular has the whole of the nobility talking in whispers and taking sides. Bringing in a mage from outside the Circle is a bold move, one she would not do if said mage didn’t offer her something the mages of the Court didn’t already have. What exactly that is you’ve kept to yourself quite well”. Scar said, approval apparent in his voice. “Smart. It keeps them guessing so that even the most outraged of the nobility wouldn’t dare challange you, even if they had the gall to question Empress Celene”.

Scar turned his attention to the books once more. “But it is not just power that you wield, is it? You chose to meet me in a library. I’m sure you don’t simply come here because its quiet. The Empress’s library holds many rare tomes that can’t be easily found elsewhere. You seek knowledge, and I can assume that you’ve already learned more than most”. Scar concluded, confident he had this woman figured out.

It was amusing when she found one so enthusiastically interested in magic, as well as rare. Most, even if interested, would deny such things even to those willing to share information, but here, not only did she have the Empress seeking her knowledge, but yet another noble as well.

How entertaining.

Morrigan shrugged at the guess he made. It was no lie that she offered the Empress something those from the Circle had little to no knowledge of–it was foolish to think that none knew of a few spells hidden among their old tomes–and she willingly offered such information to her. But to Scar…was there worth in offering the same?

“One must keep some secrets lest they one day find themselves at a disadvantage for doing otherwise. However, my seeking of further knowledge is hardly revolutionary, nor is it likely to be of any particular interest to you. That is mere speculation, of course.

“You are correct, however, in that no Circle mage, even if they did not have their own troubles at present, would be open with such a person of power as the Empress in having talents that the Chantry would not approve of. ‘Tis only fools who think any one branch of magic is only used for evil. And I should hope you are no such fool.”

“Talents the Chantry would not approve of.” Scar repeated with an amused tone. Not that he was surprised at this, but the mere fact that she admitted it so nonchalantly with no hint of shame or fear spoke volumes about this woman. He cleared his throat right after. “Forgive me, I’ve been told in the past to keep my opinions on the Chantry to myself”. He gave a sideways glance to check his surroundings. He was fairly certain they were alone but one could never be too careful.

“And yes, I’ve never really understood why some parts of magic was acceptable and others were not. If you told the Templars that they were only restricted to certain kinds of swords for weapons everyone would be up in arms, literally”. he said. “Power that some can wield and others cannot always breeds envy, whether it be literal power like magic or perceived power like the nobility. And yet, in my experience at least, I’ve seen the unrestrained perceived powers do far greater damage than any mage power”.

Scar shook his head, trying to banish many a memory away back to the dark corners he kept them in. “But I don’t see magic in itself as a threat, no matter what the branch. Only if it falls in the wrong hands, in which any weapon would be turned into a threat, be it magic or metal”. Scar said.

“I do wonder, though. While I’m sure the Empress’s Court provides great sanctuary, how many resources are at your disposal here?”

And it gets even better for Your Majesty! (the reflective surface the "Greymane" generates shows that Scar now has the same color coat as Mufasa had - the wing feathers are also this color except for the tips which are black)

Mmm, yes. Now I look like my father and brother before me. Some might even mistake me for them...something I will have to correct, of course.

Alright, you’ve given me this power. I think it’s time we re-introduce the Pridelands to their King, don’t you agree?

(As the power continues flowing into Scar, he starts growing both larger and more muscular. Quickly he grows to a size that could look an elephant straight in the eye, as well as having its extreme strength. The last energy of the amulet is channeled into the formation of powerful wings coming out of the shoulders and a "fan" of feathers attached to the tail.)

Scar closed his eyes and waited a moment for his mind to catch up with the transformation. When he sensed that the flow of energy had stopped, he made small movements testing to see if he indeed still had control over all his limbs. When he could still feel everything he opened his eyes to take in the new view. He could see clear across the Pridelands and far into the Outlands. He smiled with satisfaction.

He turned his attention to the two new limbs protruding out of his back. Searching for the muscles to get them to move, he managed to make them shake up and down a bit. After a minute, he figured out how to open and close them. Smiling again, he took his first steps in his new form, pleased that the ground shook a bit when he did.

“My, this will take some getting used too but I believe I can manage”.
