Hey, I've really liked the stuff you've reblogged about the new Dark Crystal show and am thinking about starting it. The only thing is that I've never seen the original movie so I wanted to ask if you'd recommend watching that first or if it's ok it start with the show?
actually it’s okay to start watching the show first because it’s supposed to be a prequel to the movie! just keep in mind that it’s only the first season and i imagine the creators have a lot more to reveal in terms of story and lore so it might be a bit jarring/confusing to finish the show then move onto the movie where almost everything is different (hopefully we’ll get a second and third season in the future).
though i’d still recommend the original movie; it’s a lot slower paced than the show and the story is simpler but it’s a beautiful film with a gorgeous soundtrack.
so yeah don’t worry about the correct order to watch things but it’s worth watching both just to compare 2019 puppetry with 1982 puppetry. hope this helped!

Since we’re talking about writing what are some warnings you give wannabe writers in terms of techniques or bad habits/thinking to avoid?
don’t think about an audience or sales or genre or trend
don’t write in isolation
don’t abuse metaphor
do nothing without intention
don’t worry about your first draft being good or bad, it’s about ideas
don’t sell yourself short
don’t put yourself down
don’t skip editing
