Breaking the silence ... #TheClotheslineProject #SenseOfCommunity #SexualAssaultAwareness (at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania)
Even though it was a year and a half ago, it seems like yesterday that you and I were having one of our spur of the moment heart to hearts as you told me about The Clothesline Project, about what it was and how it was such a big part of your high school. And then in no time at all, you told me about the idea that you had to bring it to Loyola, but to make it into not just an event but a full-year organized club, and in turn, make it into your own beautiful vision. And here you are, with a wonderful co-president, a Loyola "Club of the Year" accolade under your belt, and your beautiful and inspiring vision finally coming to fruition. To say I'm simply proud of you would be the only lie I've told you in our 3 years of friendship, because pride doesn't even begin to describe how honored I am to see the incredible work you've done and to know the even more incredible and compassionate soul behind all of it. Thank you for bringing more awareness, more hope, and more light to this campus in more ways than one 💚 #SexualAssaultAwarenessWeek #TheClotheslineProject (at Loyola University Maryland)
It's Domestic Violence Awareness month! According to the World Health Organization, 1 out of every 3 women in the world will experience some form of sexual or domestic violence. The Clothesline Project was developed as a way to let people of any gender who have been affected by sexual or domestic violence share their perspectives and stories to help raise awareness of the issue of gendered violence. Our campus decorated t-shirts to show support and encouragement to DV/SA survivors. This is a real issue that isn't talked about enough. Change starts with ourselves by treating others as equals. Love is not violence.
