I want to scream when i see a take that says Zeus is a rude/mean man who doesn't cares about anything but himself.
That man is god of HOSPITALITY, he's the kind of guest that stays after the party to help clean up and gives expensive gifts whenever he goes to visit somebody and his table manners would be excellent
Stop saying he's mean and rude. He literally destroyed a whole city because no one in that city was willing to help two homeless travelers into their homes (Who was him and Hermes but the point stands, he was hella mad at the rude humans) 😭
Look, i once was of the same believing that Zeus was just some jackass god because i was also spoon fed that image of him when i was young. But that image is reducing him to the cheater aspect of his character and ignoring all the rest that he enties. Now that i have explored more of his themes, myths and the way people view him in ancient greece, i see he's more than the "Tyrant, and cheater" most people make him nowdays
And that's unfair. Most male gods have had an affair, or do some questionable shit. Yes, even HADES (Srry Hades, i love u but im making a point) but you ignore all of it, except when its Zeus
i like nuanced takes on Zeus 100% more than takes that have him being a jackass just because.
There, i just needed to rant about this, thanks for coming to my Ted Talk
