@megjstev is having a fan contest for The Croaking to design a fan character based on a non-corvid bird.

I really wanted to do a hummingbird. I was obsessed with them as a kid. They’re so beautiful and frenetic. And, of course, can be incredibly vicious. Those are stabbing beaks.

So here’s a hummingbird. I figure they’d be easy to underestimate, since it’s such a fragile looking bird, but actually has incredibly speed and viciousness. I wanted to get more shiny in the design, but hummingbirds just don’t have much shine on the wings.

This is the calliope hummingbird!

I’d like to enter @megjstev‘s bg character design contest, and here’s my son, Cyrius the Harpy Eagle.  He’s usually pretty chill but when he does get riled up, he’s a menace to public property :V in other news, i need to brush up on wing drawings ^^’

@megjstev This is Jekyll Hyde, his wings are that of a California condor, and his name is an obvious reference to "Jeykll & Hyde", which is where is personality is based from, he's also rather tall.

I’m not sure if multiple submissions are allowed for @megjstev ‘s Character Contest (if no please ignore this one), but this is Gin Makar, peregrine falcon. The colours are based on the highlights of yellow and black, and the shirt is based on the underbelly.
