I am going under the assumption that LA winter is just going to be like Melbourne. So I think I'm going to be set for that, as for DC/NYC I've decided that the single pair of thermals and the five million leggings I own are going to be enough. And friends should hope so because who else would I tauntaun.

I'll be in NYC/DC at the end of Nov/start of Dec so I'm hoping that it won't be too bad, so long as I have enough layers. And a beanie. And a hoodie/jumper thing that's like, idk enough to remind me of how warm Australia would be when I'm in there.

Oh my god I need to actually fix mine because it hasn't been tailored since I cut the gum tree down in my backyard. I was thinking that though man, but I had that whole generic fear that it'd attract other creatures and trigger aggression. But then you know I realised we weren't in Australia and drop bears aren't actually a problem in America. It is though, agreed. Did you buy yours or make yours?

Angst please~

My muse has just been diagnosed with a terminal illness. How will your muse react?

It happens, sometimes.

He's immortal, but he's not invulnerable. Bullets will still tear flesh from bone. Blades will still draw blood. He can still become ill.

    And the last is perhaps the worst. He'd been there in    Constantinople, when the plague had ravaged the    city, and again in Europe when it returned. He had not    been spared. The disease had rampaged through his    body, destroying cells and spreading its fetid necrosis,    but he would not die. He could only wait for the disease    to run its course.

         Modern medicine had improved things, of course, but there         are always things that science hasn't quite caught up to, yet.         And no matter how far he runs, he cannot out-run nature.

    It had been slow, this one. It had been harder to wake    in the morning, harder to sleep at night. He'd felt heavy,    lethargic, and then the press of headaches had come.    Soon, the vision in his right eye had started to mist over,    and he'd been forced to admit that he was struggling    against something that could not kill him, but which would    try its best.

Thor's concern had been touching, but dismissed out of hand. Let me rest, he'd said, I will be up soon. But the Asgardian had refused, and there had been healing chambers and doctors and the lowered tones of people who don't want to tell someone that there is nothing they can do.

    And so he is made comfortable -- and such comforts    Asgard has to offer! -- and he grows weaker still, each    day dragged long in a haze of pain that no medicine    can quite mask. He grows feverish, and in his mind he    is back in Babylon, looking Alexander in the eye and    telling him I'm better now, soon I'll be up, for all that he    can sense thanatos lingering at his shoulder.

         There is a day he thinks he may actually die. He is skin and         bone; he is wasting away. His lips are chapped, his vision         almost gone. Thor sits near him, and though he cannot see         the Asgardian's face, he can sense the concern that spills         from him.

    "You have done me a great service," he rasps out,    not letting the god wave away his words. Just in case.    Just in case. "Before I came here, I was trapped in a    place where I watched everything I love die over and    over again, and I was haunted always by that which I    had left behind. You and your brother... I have been    happier here than I have in many centuries."

When he drifts from consciousness, Thor is there by his bedside, and he thinks he might hear the Asgardian mutter some blessing for the dead over him. This is it, he thinks. I am at peace.

       (And then he wakes, and the grey-fogged shapes of        the room are growing  a little clearer, and day by day        he regains his strength.

             I have been happier here than I have in many centuries,             he'd said, and that had been the truth. But as his body             builds itself once more he can't help but think...

                   All happiness must end. After this, what else?)
