“Hekate, please.” A note of desperation entered Hera’s voice at the please. The new queen was not yet at the point of begging, but she was getting close to it at the sight of Hekate’s coldness. Though cold wasn’t the right way of putting it either. It wasn’t a coldness so much as an utter absence of warmth, when that was all that Hera had known at her side.
“You are far from being just a well-wisher, aren’t you? We have never been so distant from one another, you and I, to pretend to do so now. Would you have us be distant to each other now, when we have been so close to one another until this time?”

OH GOD YOU WERE UP IN QLD?? ARE YOU SAFE?
YEAH. BUT WE’RE SAFE <3 we had some flooding, lost power, and our garden was completely obliterated. but we’re really lucky! it could have been so much worse xx
triviahekate a réagi à votre billet: iris was worshipped on the island of hecate and...
Hekate is associated with portals, doorways and travel between places. It actually kind of makes sense because Iris would need to use these pathways to take her messages swiftly? Hermes is also associated with her in this way- Hekate is sometimes considered the wife of Cthonic Hermes. But still, v cool.
iris’ path was mostly in the air so no doorways but the travel between places makes sense! thanks for educating me, i didnt know the second half about hecate c:
"I have you now, Incantare. You’re not getting away this time.” Lady Stardust has said that same exact phrase before, but it seems more intimate, somehow, when she’s saying it up close. The forearm pressed up against Incantare’s throat does nothing to lessen the intimacy of her words—or the way she used the rest of her body to keep the villain pressed up against the wall.
They were so close that Lady Stardust—Erica—can smell the soap Incantare used in the shower, the shampoo she used on her hair and it isn’t anything that Erica can put a name to, but damn does it smell good. She has the sudden impulse to ask what she uses—where she gets it—because Erica can think of nothing better than lathering something that smells that good after a long, hard day’s work and—
Wow. Wow. OK. Erica… Erica needs to, uh... not... think about that...
basing this answer on like… generalized adventures of shipping both H2 and HeraKate (depending on verse). leaving this under a cut because this is a ridiculously long meme response.
who is more likely to hurt the other?
Just speaking across our verses, they’re just as likely to hurt themselves as they are each other. MOSTLY BECAUSE THEY DON’T FUCKING TALK (looking directly @ H2), but they’re also in general kind of self-sabotaging people, particularly when it comes to romantic relationships.
They’re much less likely to hurt each other once they come clean and get on the same page—and once they start communicating, things go GREAT in all verses lmao—but until then they take turns hurting each other. :|||
Though I think Hera does it slightly more often in HeraKate and Hekate just a smidge in H2, but that’s—again—mostly due to their lack of communication with each other. Given that we have more verses in HeraKate universes though, I’ll say that Hera probably does have more opportunities to hurt Hekate (though she’s in all likelihood hurting herself in the process).
who is emotionally stronger?
They’ve both been through Some Shit and they’ve both developed their coping mechanisms… I would say that they’re more emotionally sturdy than they are emotionally strong, with Hekate’s particular weakness across all verses being loss and Hera’s being freedom. AKA Hekate doesn’t deal very well with loss—she’s lost too many people—and Hera doesn’t deal very well with being trapped/powerless.
This is why losing Hera—metaphorically or literally—absolutely devastates Hekate in “This is the darkest timeline”, while Hera is likelier to crumble in the face of prolonged and utter helplessness.
who is physically stronger?
Hekate, regardless of verse. It isn’t as though Hera isn’t strong in her own right, but I think we established that Hekate’s lineage makes her denser (and therefore stronger).
who is more likely to break a bone?
Hekate, though only in AUs (HP and human ones).
who knows best what to say to upset the other?
It would be IC for Hera to be the most aware, but it always seems that with Hekate she needs to fuck up before she realizes wtf she’s saying that’s wrong.
who is most likely to apologise first after an argument?
Have they ever apologized to each other? I feel like they might not have.
I feel like, y’know, it’s more likely that one of them goes “I don’t care what we were fighting about, I don’t like it when we’re not talking” instead of an apology and it’s usually Hera… who caused the fighting (most likely) in the first place and also… never really apologizes when she should. >.>;;;
Though the lack of apologizing probably has something to do with the fact that most of their problems tend to come from their lack of communication and the subsequent misunderstanding of their actions.
They don’t exactly argue and then insult each other in the process, y’know?
I lowkey feel that Hera is more likely to bridge gaps and mend bridges between the two—in part because Hekate is at times even more proud than herself, and otherwise because with Hekate, Hera is willing to set aside her pride to an unprecedented degree.
who treats who’s wounds more often?
Oh, boy! I’m not too sure about this. In human HeraKate AUs (of which we have plenty), I would say that Erica (Hera) tends to treat Kate’s (Hekate) wounds more often than she receives any herself, mostly because Erica is the more cautious one out of the two and therefore Kate has more opportunities to get banged up.
I know that in H2, Hekate is far more likely to treat Hera’s wounds because !! he strikes me as the type to not think he needs tending to, but he’s “soft” on Hera so she probably gets more treatment than she legitimately needs. :|||
who is in constant need of comfort?
Neither of them? They both have a very real---very “human”---need of comfort and consolation, but it isn’t one of those giver and taker sort of dynamics? It’s a very mutual give and take with them.
who gets more jealous?
THEY ARE BOTH SO FUCKING JEALOUS. ALL AUS. ACROSS THE BOARD. Like, they’re secure in their relationship---once they get past the hurdles---but they’re both possessive and territorial. They could be absolutely not dating and still ridiculously possessive and territorial---both of them.
who’s most likely to walk out on the other?
Umm... I think one of the human HeraKate AUs has Hekate walking out? Not for relationship reasons, but some other shit came up. I don’t know?? Like this one is very dependent, is likely more of a heat of the moment I-need-to-clear-my-head situation, but given their tendency towards “hilarious” miscommunication...
who will propose?
Officially, Hera is the most likely to propose. ;D
who has the most difficult parents?
Look---Perses can be a real piece of work, but Kronos is Asshole Dad Extraordinaire... and Rhea has a tendency to develop Missing Parent Syndrome. So, birth parent-wise, Hera wins this hands down except for that one human roommates AU.
Otherwise... Well, Hera has multiple parental figures in her life, so she really brings the whole spectrum here.
who initiates hand-holding when they’re out in public?
I actually dont’ know for this one! I think this depends on the verse, but I’ll go ahead and say that they have a tendency to do other kinds of PDA and that they are both equally as likely to initiate it.
who comes up for the other all the time?
interpreting this as “who goes above and beyond to be there for the other” and in that case.... I think that for most verses, it’s whoever is in the position most able to help the other, is the one who does it. Like they’ll do it if they can, y’know?
who hogs the blankets?
I feel like this is a human au Kate issue? Which Erica/Erika is forever annoyed by---until Kate invites her into the cozy blanket cocoon for warm snuggles. (ノ^ヮ^)ノ*:・゚✧
who gets more sad?
Male Hekate tbh. He’s all sorts of sad under all that grouch lmao
who is better at cheering the other up?
Funnily enough, I think Hekate’s the best at cheering Hera (or Erica/Erika) up? Lady Hekate, though. I think Hera is slightly better at distracting male Hekate from his sad.
who’s the one that playfully slaps the other all the time after they make silly jokes?
Both of them? I think Kate makes the most silly jokes, but BuzzFeed Editor Erica probably does some ridiculous meme shit and it probably devolves into some slapfight and intense eye staring.
who is more streetwise?
Hekate/Kate in nearly all verses. Except the Villans and Heros verse, where the alien Lady Stardust is more aware of contemporary/modern human culture than “Grew Up On An Isolated Island” Incantare
who is more wise?
It depends on the type of wisdom, I think? Hekate is definitely very wise, but Hera has her wisdom---particularly when it comes to emotional or very pragmatic matters.
who’s the shyest?
They both have their moments of shyness. LOTS of moments of shyness. Really, though, H2′s Hekate and HeraKate’s Hera/Erica are the shier ones.
who boasts about the other more?
Hera, in all verses, absolutely adores Hekate, but nobody boasts about Hera like her husband Hekate.
who sits on who’s lap?
They both sit on each other’s laps quite frequently. In H2, however, Hera is far more likely to take a seat on Hekate’s lap than he is on hers, for example, but Hekate/Kate is a lap cat, so she probably does it the most
