           He turned toward her and smiled a little; this was what he had been hoping for. Without a word, he held out a hand for her to come forward. She didn't have to ask; he would've given her anything she wanted.

Ever since the day Clay bitten Elena things changed. Her pack was in New York where they lived but the blonde rarely had a minute to herself, it seemed with each passing day there was a new crisis that required her attention and that of her pack. When Jeremy the former alpha stepped down the pack was given to Elena. Things had been rather quiet so Elena took a small trip to New Orleans leaving her husband at home to watch over their pack. She had heard of another alpha who lived there and while she was curious Elena didn’t want to rile another pack considering they were still getting used to the new leadership. The fact that the pack did not have to turn on full moons was enough to pique her interest, however. Sitting at the bar Elena sat with a drink in hand listening to the conversations of those around her. @thecxrsedqueen

It was annoying, all the waiting, but Aurora was smarter than approaching Hayley with her little girl in tow, far better to wait until Hope was tucked safely back into the school.  Aurora was trying to play nice, and she wasn’t foolish enough to believe that showing up while Hope was around would be perceived as anything other than a threat.  The meeting was going to go off to a rocky enough start as it was, and Aurora had no intention of adding fuel to that fire; not for now at least though perhaps later if she determined that it would be better to simply burn the lot of it all down.  

Once the tot was safely back inside, Aurora emerged from the shadows.  “Precious little thing, isn’t she.  It’s a shame that Niklaus doesn’t get to see her.  Perhaps, if someone asked very nicely, there would be a way to bring him back into her life?”  Aurora singsonged.  Her words were precious, primarily because she doubted there would be a chance to get many out before the hybrid went off and tried something foolish.  Hopefully what she said would be enough to capture Hayley’s interest and stress that she needed to be on her best behavior if she wanted to learn more.

She didn’t know what she was doing here. Not really. It was just that she’d been in her car and she didn’t know where to go and she’d just...ended up here. Because it was the one place that she knew couldn’t be ruined. And it was like hiding in plain sight. And...well, she didn’t know why else. But the fact was, she was here. It was only a matter of time until someone spotted her, she just hadn’t expected that someone to be Hayley. And once the wolf saw her, Caroline knew she was done. “I’m not here for---” For what? To attack them? To become friends with them? To give Klaus whatever chance he kept pushing for? She cut herself off before she could try and figure out the ending to the sentence, glancing up at the wolf warily. “I’m not here to mess with anything, okay? I just...I need to lie low. For awhile. Somewhere Stefan and Elena and Bonnie can’t find me.”

A new start, that was her aim.  Get out of Mystic Falls and leave behind the chaos and death that had assaulted her on a near daily basis.  Add to that, the opportunity was far too good to pass up.  Her own practice right in the heart of the Big Easy.

(of course it never really occurred to her that she would be diving into a whole new kind of chaos and death)

Meredith looked at her chart and then at the woman in front of her.  There was definitely apprehension there.  “So...” Meredith said, deciding to begin with the easy stuff.  “Just how far along do you think you are?”
