Day 169 : Last week, @munroebergdorf made history as the first transgender woman to apprear in an L'Oréal Paris U.K campaign. Within the very same week L'Oréal proved that the progressive changes they claimed to be making in the beauty industry were literally only skin deep, by removing Munroe, a well⠀ known activist for equality, from their campaign. The reason... a nuanced essay she wrote as a woman of colour in response to white supremacy in Charlotteville was attacked and de contextualised by the well know (& infamously racist!!) smear machine, the daily mail. The hypocrisy and shortsightedness here beggars belief. #istandwithmunroe and I'm walking away from racist, homophobic, transphobic corporations and will start with boycotting all @lorealmakeup products.
