Comfort and function absolutely come first with Ezra’s clothes, followed only then by style. He doesn’t like a lot of flashy colors or anything overly fancy for his everyday wear that would draw attention to him, and often prefers to wear unassuming pieces in neutral tones.
Pants are often more fitted, enough to either tuck into boots or lay close enough not to get in the way if he’s wearing lighter slippers or something--though he does prefer boots, especially farther south where his feet get cold. Long sleeves that aren’t rolled up are pretty rare in anything except outerwear, but that’s more because he doesn’t like the sensation of fabric around his wrists and will get distracted by it. Everything top he owns, barring one or two, has some kind of fastening in the front, for convenience, and if it’s warm enough he has no qualms about going around shirtless so he doesn’t have to deal with a shirt.
While he prefers a leather coat for being out in the field, back at Skyhold he can more often than not be found wearing a close-fitting cardigan made of lumpy, homespun yarn to keep off the chill.
Before becoming Inquisitor, a lot of his clothes had been discretely mended in places, patches and odd seams where he’d ripped fabric or worn through something, replaced elbow patches on his sweaters and things like that. Anything to make his clothes last longer was one less thing he had to spend his money on, which is always a plus as far as Ezra is concerned.
