I can do ten thousand words/miles of soft mutual pining, but I need a good reason for Marinette and Adrien to be alone, traveling across the United States in a car.
alya and nino are in new york and adrien + marinette are planning to surprise them for their five-year best-friendaversary. they intend to fly there, but it turns out they accidentally boarded the wrong flight and end up in FLORIDA of all places
they stay a night at a motel (throw in some good ol’ “oh we only have one room with a single bed left” Bed Sharing™ trope) and hop in a rental car the next morning to head off, adrien only slightly disappointed that they didnt take up the opportunity to visit disney world
(dont ask me why they cant just fly to new york…idk…maybe there’s a reason they cant or maybe adrien’s like “well we still have two days, can’t we drive??? ive never been on a road trip before plEASE MARINETTE”)
hilarity ensues. adrien eats mcdonalds breakfast for the first time. they drive past a lot of weird billboards on the interstate and they made a deal that whoever isnt driving needs to take pictures because america is so damn weird why are alya and nino staying here
probably for some journalism thing or maybe nino got a record deal
bonus points if adrien + marinette dont know each others identities and somehow discover them over the course of the drive
