Vergil coughed, spitting up a mouthful of sand as he pushed himself up to his hands and knees. He shook his head, sending a wave of loose grains down from his hair, and glanced around.
As far as the devil could see, he was surrounded by sand, sand, and... sand. He had no idea where he was, or how he’d ended up wherever this was. Vergil vaguely recalled he had been checking out a suspicious ‘Hell Gate’ for his brother, trying to earn his keep at the shop until he could get out on his own, and now he was here. Great. It was probably just an area of the demon realm that he wasn’t familiar with, nothing to be concerned about.
Vergil sighed as he stood up and dusted himself off; no time like the present to get moving and get out of here. He thought he could just make out the shape of something in the distance, some sort of building? The devil ran his fingers through his hair to remove more of the sand there, and started heading in the direction of whatever that thing in the distance was.
