Different . . .
Today I went to the hospitals breastfeeding support group, it was my second time there. I didn’t care for the lactation consultant who ran the group today. We were talking about our issues and with mine being low supply she said in front of the group that “it must be hard being around all these women with an over supply”. I then asked for her help to get Addison latched on to my right side since he was fussing and not latching on. We were talking and again she asked me if it was hard being around women who have a good supply. I didn’t know what to say.
So I told her it doesn’t really bother me. I told her how we had to undergo a lot of fertility treatments to have him and I was use to being the only one with fertility problems. So I am used to being different from everybody else. But in reality it does bother me. And it bothers me that she kept pointing this out. She had no valuable advice or encouragement to give me. She told me sometimes women don’t have enough milk producing tissue. And she basically told me it was ok to give up. Well, I’m not “giving up” yet. My SNS came today and after I play around with it, I’ll try it out. And yes, it sucks to always be the “different” one or should I say the one that has things that never go easy. Why is it always me?
