The Neighbors Au; Clint & Tony
you used to live in ur apartment with your boyfriend until you broke up and he left and now you’re crying on the floor not because he left but because you can’t sleep alone, so um im here??? // expanded to be neighbors who also act like they hate each other & bother & ease & tolerate each other // @thedirectorofshield
Officer Barton, known to his neighbors as Clint, lived a nice apartment in one of the boroughs of the massive New York City. His place was a little bit of a mess, making it evident that he was a bachelor. He had a dog, Lucky, a mutt who was missing an eye. He had rescued the dog when he was on a drug bust with his partner. The poor mutt was being kicked around by the tracksuit thugs who were dealing drugs in their apartment. He couldn’t help it but adopt the dog after that. So now, Clint had a dog who lived with him and kept him company most nights when he wasn’t necessarily working. Always on call, but not always working.
Clint was working his way towards the title of detective like one of his dear friends, Natasha Romanoff. She had been prompted to the title of detective several months back which left Clint with a new partner, a newbie and annoying at that; Kate Bishop. Kate was alright, but well she was a newbie and he was pretty prickly about who he worked with. He missed working with Natasha, she had been teasingly called his work wife. Clint liked his life for the most part and rather focused now on earning the title detective.
For the most part, he got along with most of his neighbors. Most of them had become reliant on him when it came to security issues ( it’s because he was a cop ) than they were informing their landlord ( who Natasha told him he was just being paranoid, thinking the guy was a drug lord ). He could name about two neighbors that he wasn’t necessarily fond of or the friendliest with. Old Lady Crabapple ( yes that was her last name and Nat would hit him for laughing about it ) who was this grouchy lady with a little devil for a dog. The next guy was this Tony Stark guy, some greasy dude who he supposed owned an automobile and tech shop? He wasn’t sure which, he just knew most of the neighbors went to him with car problems or technology issues. He also always saw Tony around with his boyfriend. Ty Stoner or something like that, Clint hadn’t really cared too much. What annoyed Clint about Tony and his relationship, was the little gossip about when the two of them would get married. Marriage was a prickly subject since he was a divorced man, not that anyone here knew that. He moved into this apartment after that happened.
Clint wasn’t too thrilled when he had to run into Tony or spend an extended amount of time around the guy. He was fishy, so was his boyfriend, which would cause again for Natasha to tell Clint that he was just being paranoid. A grin is forced as Tony and Clint both end up at the mail box around the same time, Clint struggling with the key to unlock it. How embarrassing. “Stark.” He says, trying to sound civil and friendly, “How’s the weather?” God, what a stupid question! That’s not what he meat to say but it’s too late now.
