"Oh, Hello Marilyn."
A Night Away || Open
There was something refreshing about the summer humidity that Marilyn couldn't quite place her delicate, and well manicured finger on. Most people claimed it to be stifling, as if they were attempting to breathe in soup, but she relished in the slight sheen of sweat that rest just on the tops of her hands, and underneath the mop of blond curls that protest the hot weather. It made her feel alive, really, and she'd rather be hot than cold, so it stood as a heavy reminder that it wasn't winter time. The beginning of July was always a hot one, but the weatherman on the radio back in her small apartment had said this one would set the records.
Granted, they said that every year. And it didn't stop her from wanting to view the fireworks for the Independence Day celebrations! With her heels dangling from her left hand, she padded softly through the grass of Central park, letting the darkness overtake her. As a child she had once been scared of the darkness, the inky black abyss dredging up the demons of her past, but as she grew older, she learned to enjoy the silence it entailed, and how peaceful it could be when she just sat and listened.
The sound of crackling gunpowder and burning magnesium filled the air as the first of the fireworks started, illuminating the night sky with bright pinks and neon greens. Celebrations of the good ol' red, white, and blue. Untwisting the cap off of the rum, she took her first swig for the night, easing down to sit on the nearby bench at the edge of the trees, feet swinging as she leaned back to watch the display

I don't usually do this...
Doctor! Do you remember the night of the party? We never went on to that chapel. Such a shame.
"Ah... well, yes very much a shame. Very much a shame."
