I'm going to interpret this two ways:
Because the entire movie is just really hilarious and the entire story line pretty much sums up how Star Trek rolls. I mean, an unknown alien probe trying to just say "hey nigga" to whales while destroying human kind in the process, forcing the crew of no-other-than the Enterprise to travel back in time to go pick up some whales and one just so happens to be pregnant? Yeah that's Star Trek for you.
Why the hell not?
