In Out on the Weekend by Neil Young and Lay Lady Lay by Bob Dylan both of them describe a “big brass bed”, although Neil describes laying in the big brass bed which belongs to a girl, and Bob describes the big brass bed belonging to him, and he has a girl laying in it. So the logical conclusion to draw from this is that the two songs are two different perspectives of the same situation. Bob and Neil are in the same bed, and they both think the other is a girl.

the white boy of the month pushing his hair back and reading poetry for the camera is not the equivalent of the dehumanization of women in visual media by way of presenting them primarily as vessels for sexual gratification

i made a post like this before but I can't find it now. so. I'll just redo it.
What's the first "big news story" you remember from when you were a kid?
It's something I love to ask mixed-aged groups sometimes because I think it's really interesting to see the responses. I've gotten answers from the Olympics of [whatever year] to Watergate to more recent stuff from my niblings.
My first news thing I remember is the OJ Simpson trial. I vaguely remember watching the news with my grandparents before that, but that's the first story I remember, in part because my second grade teacher had us go play so she could watch the verdict 😂
I remember walking down the street and seeing a sign protesting George W. Bush’s war on Iraq, so I think that.
this is also perhaps going to be a controversial opinion given tumblr's love of the mummy but. i had always kind of grouped the mummy/the mummy returns and the original three indiana jones movies together in my head because my brother and i were super into them around the same time and there is obviously a fair amount of content/theme overlap BUT. i rewatched both the indiana jones trilogy and the mummies in the last couple years for the first time as an adult and i was genuinely shocked by how much better the indiana jones movies are. like i thought of them both as compelling but with some cheesy elements and i actually think the indiana jones movies are genuinely very well done and both the mummy movies are mid at best.
on the subject of movie takes. didn't make it into the top ten in part because i only got into them this year but 28 days later/28 years later/bone temple are sooooooo genuinely fantastic. like i like horror movies but a lot of horror movie fans that want their faves to get more mainstream recognition are gassing them up too much BUT these are genuinely really really fantastic films on their own merits. 28 weeks later is very mid and doesn't add anything to the franchise but the others slap.
my hot take and definite minority opinion is that 28 years later is better than bone temple (though I thought bone temple was very good), I think it's too slow and contemplative for some people but I think it really worked for me as a meditation on family and how life goes on in a post-apocalyptic world which is also something the original movie did very well.
