I didn't mean for this to come out as an argument!! Super sorry if you thought I did <3 I perfectly understand, I guess I came across as standoffish but that's only bc 250 words is all you can type in replies.

It's okay, I didn't mean you were argumentative or anything like that..  It's just it's clear we have different opinions (and that's okay!  I didn't say it as if everyone had to feel the same way) and I didn't want it to turn into an argument.  <3 x

We live in a capitalist society. Ads are going to be aimed at making money, it's just that they did it in a way that didn't demonise people for fighting for what they believe in. I think it's an awesome advert, it doesn't make me want to shop there

Look, I don't want to argue about it.  Clearly it's just me.  I'm in no way saying anything against it in general.  It's a wonderful story, I always loved hearing about the Christmas day where the soldier put down their guns and played football on No Man's Land.  I think it's wonderful that it's being shown and it's without a doubt a very moving video.  It just makes me uncomfortable.  I'm sorry, I didn't want to argue over it, it's clearly just me that feels differently.

My great grandfather and grandfather were in the war. I really do think you might have been taking this a bit too seriously. This makes them human, rather than stats. It shows they were just men, if they can put their differences aside, why can't we?

I get that bit, really I do.  Like I said, I think it's really well made and it's a beautiful short film.  It just makes me uncomfortable that it's done for that reason.  If it was done solely for the British Legion, then I would love it because, like you said, it shows them as men.  Not stats, not the good guys and the bad guys.  Just human beings.  But it was specifically made to make people shop at Sainsbury's, that's the bit that's annoying me.  It was made because the people in Sainsbury's know it would affect people in that way and so make them more likely to buy from them.

Maybe I am just taking it too seriously.  I just don't like something like that being made with the aim of making a profit for a big business.

sure yea. omg so much of ours happens in the fucking woods. lmao did u tell u about how last year when we were filming our preliminary we accidentally broke into that tutoring place in sutton (the one w/ the signs for hypnosis lessons) and it didn't occur to us bc we just walked in there and it was empty and it kind of hit us later like um this is a not a public building. i think they have locks now.
