A lot of people don’t understand or know anything about the historical context of of the word “Cowboy” Originally, White cowboys were called Cowhands, and African Americans were pejoratively referred to as “Cowboys.” African American men being called “boy” regardless of their age stems from slavery and the plantation era in the South. So as Black Bart said in #blazingsaddles “Watch that boy shit, Redneck” 😂 We are the original Cowboys, like it or not. You wouldn’t believe the stares I get wearing my @stetsonusa anywhere… even in @visitaustintx Many thanks to my old friend #mattminick for introducing me to riding horses 🐎 back in grade school. #blackcowboy #austintexas #thedriskill @thedriskill #oldtownroad #texaslonghorn (at The Driskill) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cnim-uTLkTO/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
