It was a super exciting book mail day! Both of these I had been waiting on a WHILE. The two poetry books are international orders from The Emma Press, so of course those took awhile, and then I think there was a COVID-related hitch in my Sal & Gabi preorder, as its release date was last week. But now they are here! Listen. The second I heard about this book, I knew that I needed it. What’s not to love? The Emma Press, Scottish folklore, LGBT retelling, poetry, AND gorgeous watercolor illustrations? Sign me up! I anxiously awaited its delivery across the sea, and have been thoroughly delighted by every page so far. One of those rare books that makes me war with myself — whether to tear through the book in one swoop, or to portion it out bit by bit. I’ve been reading 5-7 poems a day and it’s perfect. Alchemy: Why poetry publishers need to get it together

Poetry publishing can be fun, rewarding and inspiring, but it can also prove tough, isolating and tiring. With that in mind, I’ve written this short piece for the wonderful BookMachine about the need for poetry presses to collaborate.

It contains such gems as:
