Sleepless Nights.. Having one of those tonight 😅 I actually just finished watching "The End of Malice" the Netflix documentary about "Malice" or now known as "No Malice" of "The Clipse" an iconic hip hop group who thrived in late 90's and early 2000's. I find it very hard to understand the mind of the OG Malice. On one hand I have the upmost respect for his decision to turn his life over to God and serve the Lord unwaveringly. But on the other, I guess playing devils advocate if you will I can't understand why a hall of fame rapper that I've come to love and appreciate not only as an MC but as a person as well. Instead of (for lack of better terms) turn his back to Hip Hop because of the pillars of content but try to innovate to change and/or broaden the scope of Hip Hop for the better. Hearing how he would craft his rhymes and then looking back on the crafty and wittiness of his verses as a member of "The Clipse" I personally believe that he could be a very influential artist today and use his influence as a Hip Hop legend to bring people closer to the gospel. You know healing and helping so many lost and hurt people in this world. I also do understand from watching the documentary that another huge reason (to my understanding) for him not being involved in Hip Hop any more was due to the fame and the people it brought around him and those people not having the same values as himself. Which is very important in order to have lasting and fulfilling success. Part of me feels like maybe this is my calling or my mission if you will. To bridge the gaps between religion, hip hop, pop culture, and god himself to make the world a better place. But anyway at this point I guess I can only pray for rebirth of "No Malice" the rapper.
