Edelgard set the tea cup down and leaned back into her chair and folded one leg over the other. Her intentions and intuitions were always true to herself so she already knew the answer without hesitation. Her intuitions were always clear to her and even if they weren’t, she had people to help divert her to the correct path. 

“Yes, I do trust my intuition through and through, professor.”

the sun: what makes you happiest?

Edelgard’s hand steadied on her tea cup and looked to the Professor. She had always enjoyed this company between the two of them. It was comforting to know that they still wanted to know so much about her but there were things that she didn’t want to state just yet to them. 

“Achieving my goal would make me the happiest in terms of long term dreams. But in terms of short term happy moments. I would have to say when you and I have tea times. They’re something for me to forget about my worries and not have to overly think about the situations.”

Seated in the library, Ingrid carefully turned the page of her novel, reaching the last paragraph of the chapter. It was a thrilling tale of a knight who had been separated from her allies, facing incredible dangers on her own determined to return to her lord’s side. She had reread the final, well-crafted one last time before lifting her gaze upward, realizing that none other than one of her professors was seated before her. Embarrassed, she straightened.

“Oh, hello Professor,” Ingrid greeted, offering a cordial smile, “were you sitting here for long? I apologize. When I get really absorbed in a book, I sometimes don’t realize what’s going on around me.” She admitted, carefully sticking a ribbon between the pages of her book before closing it with a dull thud. When her professor repeated their question, she offered them her attention.

“Do you ask that because you are worried? There’s no need, really. I’m fine. That letter from the other day isn’t even on my mind anymore.” She reassured them.

“But, since you ask...I’d say my answer is progress. Sure, there’s a lot of things that make me happy, like marinated meats and new riding equipment...but seeing results that inch me closer to my dream makes me the happiest. If I keep progressing like I am, I’ll become a knight, just like him...”

Favorite rainy day activities?

Which do you prefer: watching the sunrise, the sunset, or stargazing?

Edelgard cleared her throat, as she stared at the teacup in front of her. A small cup of Earl Grey, or Bergamot tea, whichever was preferred to be stated. The waft of slight orange and bitterness filled the area. She had enjoyed her tea times with the professor. It was something that she cherished in their small time. With her constantly working and not stopping, the little break was always nice.

Yet having the professor ask her questions? That was certainly something that was different. Perhaps they wanted to get to know Edelgard a bit more personally. Not much was known about her personal life since she stuck to more business matters. Constantly feeling eyes on her all the time never helped either. But perhaps she could change that with these small get-togethers.

“I really do enjoy watching the sun rise. It indicates a new day, a new beginning. Another day to get things done and try to accomplish your goals for the day. Though, I have not have time for watching it with everything else going on in my life. Perhaps I should watch it again for a change.”

The other question was a bit of a surprise. Edelgard had barely enough time to dwell on activities that did not help out in her future endeavors. Yet, she did have a few for when she could not leave her room due to the weather conditions outside. Bringing the cup to her lips, the tea had cooled some but was still warm as she drank some from her cup. It warmed her body and was absolutely heavenly to her core.

“A rainy day doesn’t happen often in Garreg Mach from what I’ve seen. Yet, being curled up with a soft blanket and a good book does sound rather nice and pleasant. I have taken a small appreciation for the arts, but I’m afraid my paintings are not well done enough to show public yet.” Edelgard haphazardly grabbed her cup and continued to drink the tea. NO ONE NEEDS TO KNOW YOU PAINT PORTRAITS. She was internally screaming to herself, hopefully still seeming calm and collected though.

Raising an eyebrow, Ingrid looked to Byleth with an expression that was painted a mixture of disbelief and scrutiny. Part of her was trying to identify whether or not she was being tested, while the other found herself genuinely intrigued by the question. Unable to find any answers in her professor’s blank expression, she decided to answer the question truthfully.

“If I was planning a heist...I’d definitely choose Ashe to be on my team. He told me he once lived a life of thievery to support his younger siblings. Any experience at all would be helpful in that situation. As for other allies...maybe Sylvain. He wouldn’t ask questions...but I get the feeling Prince Dimitri and Felix wouldn’t lend a hand without more information.”

Had he not have already swallowed the sip of tea he had taken, Eliwood may have choked upon hearing such a colorful question. He had never once ever considered undertaking a nefarious act, even when it came to a task as important as securing the Fire Emblem. Returning his tea cup and saucer to the table, he shook his head, wearing a serious expression.

“First and foremost, I would undertake every measure possible to complete the task without the use of thievery,” He clarified, before releasing a small sigh, “but I suppose if I were to participate in a heist, I would rely on none other than Hector and Matthew. Hector has my full and complete trust. As for Matthew, his skills in...acquisition are unmatched.”

patroclus - do you regret anything?

Ephraim had crossed one leg over the other and had pondered the question at hand. Did he regret anything? Was it something that had ever crossed his mind at any point? Surely he regretted losing his friends, but that was something that could not be stopped. So surely he shouldn’t have dwelled on it too much. Although perhaps he had regretted some things, it wasn’t anything too big.

He had regretted missing meals sometimes in the past because it had meant a poor sparring session. In reality, though, it wasn’t anything truly too bad. 

“I can’t say my regrets are something of extreme measures. But I do have them from time to time but it’s nothing I hold onto.”
