Scarlet giggled down at the potted plant that had been trying to grow for weeks, yet, nothing ever arose from it. "Come on now, don't be shy. You're alright. It's nice and warm out here, I promise."
She was born in the year 1800 to a farmer and his wife. She grew among the other village children and played among them happily, working with her parents on the farm when they needed her. Often, she'd wander into the night and travel into the looming forest nearby, just to have a front row seat to the wonders of the stars and the moon.
At the age of twenty, Scarlet had been running through a thick part of the forest in winter from a wolf. She failed to notice the frozen over pond. The third step in, the ice cracked and disappeared beneath her, drawing her into the dark depths of the freezing water. Yet, she didn't perish. The next morning when she was found, Scarlet was pulled from the water and found with white hair, pale skin, and blue eyes, quite opposite than her last appearance the night before. People only thought it was a miracle and that fear had changed her appearance.
In spring, her appearance changed; brown hair like soil brown eyes like mud. In summer, her appearance changed; pale blonde hair like the golden rays of sun, tanned skin, and eyes the color of grass. In autumn, her appearance once again changed; red hair like the falling leaves, hazel eyes like the other ones. And while people say in wonder and amazement, Scarlet finally figured it out.
She also learned as time went out that she was immortal to time. And when plague hit, Scarlet caught it and learned she was mortal to everything else.
Currently, she was the owner of a tiny flower shop on the corner of two intersecting streets. 'Twilight Delights' was the name. Inside were flowers and plants of all kinds, shapes, lengths, and colors. Practically every plant imaginable was inside, and they were all homegrown. Since it was summer, her hair was blonde and her eyes shined an emerald green.
"Alright, I'll give you one last boost." Scarlet smiled and rubbed her hands over the pot, causing a light green dust to fall from her hands and land upon the moist soil. She watched with a grin as a tiny plant began to slowly make its way up.
