So the MET gala took place last night (1st May, 2017), and for fashion people this may be the biggest night in the industry – even more than the Oscars. For those who aren’t that much into fashion – let me break it down for you.
The Met Gala was formerly known as the Costume Institute Gala which takes place at the Metropolitan Art Museum – hence the name now – Met Gala. It is a fund-raising benefit for the costume institute in New York.
Side Note: This got me thinking about the situation in SA and whether this would work. Let’s just say – watch this space!
Now I know that most people will take a look at these amazing creations and immediately cringe with the go-to reaction of “Ewww!!” or “What the hell is that?”
Well, this is Haute Couture – carefully put together ensembles that are one of a kind and showcase an artistic perspective. This year, the museum exhibited Rei Kawakubo / Comme des Garcon: Art of the in-between. Think of it as an art show for fashion.
