While the fashion was somewhat extravagant, I have to point out my second love of this industry – the beauty!
Below are the looks that stood out the most for me – again re-iterating that beauty and makeup is art. It can do so much and stars like Rihanna, Cara and Zendaya just nailed it.

The Bold & Best Beauty Looks @ the Met Gala The 2017 Met Gala exhibited Rei Kawakubo/ Comme des Garcon: Art of the in-between and brought out the best of the stars in the most avant garde creations you'd ever seen.
So the MET gala took place last night (1st May, 2017), and for fashion people this may be the biggest night in the industry – even more than the Oscars. For those who aren’t that much into fashion – let me break it down for you.
The Met Gala was formerly known as the Costume Institute Gala which takes place at the Metropolitan Art Museum – hence the name now – Met Gala. It is a fund-raising benefit for the costume institute in New York.
Side Note: This got me thinking about the situation in SA and whether this would work. Let’s just say – watch this space!
Now I know that most people will take a look at these amazing creations and immediately cringe with the go-to reaction of “Ewww!!” or “What the hell is that?”
Well, this is Haute Couture – carefully put together ensembles that are one of a kind and showcase an artistic perspective. This year, the museum exhibited Rei Kawakubo / Comme des Garcon: Art of the in-between. Think of it as an art show for fashion.
