Unspoken anxiety settled like a heavy lump in the pit of Daphne’s stomach. SOMEONE was coming! Or at least there was a good likelihood of it if the sound of approaching footsteps strengthening by the second was anything to go by. Unfortunately using her own body as a weapon was out of the question since she ended up hurting her leg after taking a clumsy tumble. With that thought in mind, Daphne swiftly cast her gaze around the immediate area for anything nearby she could possibly use as a weapon. There was no hesitation as she ended up leaning down to pick up what was a large vase. Whether it would be enough to thwart a spook or not, she didn’t know, and prayed she wouldn’t have to find out.
Lifting it HIGH above her head, Daphne stepped back and settled herself temporarily within the cover of the shadows, her ears straining to listen to EVERY thump on the ground as whoever was getting closer drew nearer and nearer to her location.
