Atone
If only I could take a scalpel, slice your flesh and dissect your mind and keep it on my bedroom shelf, in jars of salt and formaldehyde,
to milk the anger from the sinew so there exists no more that brutal seed, I’ll dig your brain until it bends, pluck your lust, destroy your greed
then sew the fissures back together, screw your skull and twine the sutures, tie a bow atop your mangled head and present the specimen of the future.
Do these things make you a man? I wait for assertion after the ire. They say that performing lobotomies, will give you the lover you’ve always desired.
Sorting Things Out
The past couple of weeks have been really busy for the both of us, with gigs (both as a duo and individual alike) and personal matters to attend to. But, we thank you nonetheless for the love you've shown us so far. To all our friends and family who have been nothing less than supportive, our deepest thanks! We're only a few weeks old as a duo, but you make us feel like we've been doing this for years. Salamat po!
If you've been following us on Soundcloud, you might have noticed that our demo version of our first original (Kapit) has been missing from your stream. We decided to take it down for a while since we wanted to re-record a better version (hopefully not a demo anymore [!]) for your listening pleasure. :) We've been very keen on all the feedback everyone has been giving us [all of which we'd like to consider as constructive] and have been working on creating a better sound which everyone can appreciate. :)
So in the meantime, while we're sorting things out and improving our craft, we decided to re-upload one of our old covers which we remastered. It should be up later this evening, so stay tuned!
We've got a brand new cover for all of you! Here's our version of Britney Spears' hit "Toxic"
Many thanks to Hello & Co. Cinema for helping us out with the video!
ENJOY!
Get a copy of our cover: PROM!
Hello everyone!
We have some exciting news to share with all of you. But first, we wanna take time to thank you all for the love you've shown us these past few days. To those of you who've followed and shared our music - MARAMING SALAMAT!
Some of you have sent us messages asking for a copy of our version of "PROM" and we both thought: "that's such a great idea!" :)
So if any of you would like to get your own audio copy of "PROM" so you can listen to it while you're on the go, here are a 3 simple steps on how to get it:
1. Share the soundcloud track on your personal FACEBOOK profile: http://soundcloud.com/tfdmusic/prom
2. In your caption, please include a link to www.tfdmusic.tumblr.com and the hashtag #TFDMusic (don't forget to check the privacy setting on the post and change it to PUBLIC so we can find it and see it!)
3. Once we find you [using the hashtag], wait for one of us to message you to ask for your email so we can send you the audio file. :)
We hope you could help us spread the word about our music! We look forward to sharing more with you soon!
And just a few hours after we announced our duo (#thefifthday) - we hear news of our inspirations calling it quits.. The untimely separation of @thecivilwars brings me so much sadness. But then again, departures are almost always harder on the ones being left behind anyway... I'm sure they have their reasons and I'm positive it's for the best. Thank you, Joy and John. We will miss you and your music so much. You guys are one of the reasons why we decided to form a duo anyway. I wish I got the chance to meet you -- or at the very least ask for even a few tips. You guys are my heroes. God bless you both as you take on new chapters in your lives and music careers individually. :) -D

The Post Ex-Dream Funk
/“I wish you well” is what I’d say If you asked me in the light of day. But these nights are like a dream I can’t shake./
It’s these subconscious assaults You don’t know you commit on me Where I’m alone in the high school band room Which is now housing a computer lab for some reason, But I don’t notice an odd thing While I’m reading a note you left typed on the screen In your handwriting, in German which, right now, I’d swear I could understand. About how I’ve begged you so convincingly You’re thinking of coming back to me And if that’s the way it’s gonna be, God, Please don’t ever wake me up.
But He always does, and maybe I’m thankful for that. Because every day’s another chance To make these dreams a reality, But every day I’m reluctantly realizing – And correct me if I’m wrong, /please/ – You’re really never coming back. And maybe I’ve known that all along… So friends, today I have no choice but to pretend I wasn’t impaired by dawn. Do forgive me if I’m absent or slip up, For since the second I woke up I can’t wait to go back to sleep again And pray I pick up where I left off.
