In week one, danah boyd’s concept of the ‘Always-On Lifestyle’ (2012) was introduced. It is “no longer about on and off really. It’s about living in a world where being networked to people and information wherever and whenever you need it is just assumed”(Boyd 2012, pg. 71). She also establishes the irony in this, which works around the idea that just because one may be ‘always-on’ doesn’t mean that they are ‘always-accessible-to-everyone'. “Different situational contexts mean different relationships to being always-on.” (Boyd 2012, pg. 72) We are able to choose the information we wish to receive, whenever and wherever it suits. There is a real emphasis on the individual and the newfound ability to ‘personalise’ our experience of the digital world. This leads to the concept of 'The Filter Bubble' by Eli Paris
