Generation Loss Week, Day 2: Afterschool Slash

I love dialup and I can entertain myself with them until oasis comes out of the oven but i feel really bad for all you gen losers who don’t care about them. We pretty much know their dynamic so it’s easier to put them in situations. But like. Ben? We don’t know really anything about his genuine personality besides he’s a jock and probably has internalized transphobia. It’s hard to put him in situations because we’ve only seen him in panic. And Zero? We know so little about them, same with Jay.

Non dialup gen losers, tse lovers, Ben enjoyers, oasis speculators and everyone in between i see you and i feel for you and as soon as the art block is gone I’ll make some awesome art for you guys just u wait!!

Sounds kind of corny but I probably would not be here without it. Gave me something to wait for so I wouldn’t jump off a cliff <3

Genloss Founders game Ch2 thoughts

So our character (who is in a dilapidated version of a school they seem to recognise) gets bonked on the head and wakes up to seeing some orb. They touch the strange orb. We then get a little bit of a story revolving around Ben, a high schooler who goes to the very school we were in in CH1, except when it was either still running or some memory of when it still ran.

We see ourselves (Ben) in the bathroom mirrors at some point, with Zero’s name also graffitied/stickered on the wall and the Genloss logo to the left.

A rd figure beckons us to follow, glitching as they stand. Which is where we have to make our next choice to follow or run away.

So here are some thoughts:

Zero went to LF high (Lostfield) high

Genloss was either founded in this school or this school at this point is under its influence, or its influence has at least spread to schools and media, among which LF high

Zero goes through an incident (The Lostfield Incident?) where they experience a traumatic event, only remembering seeing a wreck and her own body lying near it in her dreams

Zero saw the Genloss symbol on the tree near the incident in her dream

This school is the same place we see videos being made for the Genloss channel like T_2, probably at a later point in time

An audio file is mentioned dated to August 13th, the same date Zero wrote in their journal that they got in trouble for sleeping in class again, they apparently woke up screaming, Jay at some point is outside the classroom window trying to be funny

Ben wakes up late in the classroom, he shortly glimpses someone outside

There are very clear parallels between Ben and Zero and Jay may just have a role in this whole shebang too

So we “play” as someone who vaguely recognises the school from their past (Zero, Ben or Jay), who finds themself randomly stuck there to a wall by a wire, to then get bonked on the head and touch a strange orb.

My ongoing theory is that the Founder studied/taught at the same school, invented the Genloss science, had it spread to control media and teachings, got very influential, then the Lostfield incident happened, which may have been a good or bad thing for the founder, considering they keep referring to generation 0 as the first story and something they want to perfect. Zero may or may not have been involved in the Lostfield incident, they at least were affected by Genloss in some way and might be having dreams of the memories that were taken from her.

The therapy might not even be proper therapy, it might be to keep Zero in check and make sure the Genloss illusion doesn’t wear off. Either way, something happened and it’s possible it is what gave the Founder and Showfall media a lot of power or trouble.

It’s also possible the Lostfield incident is what rendered the school abandoned in the first place, only to then be used by the Founder as a place to continue his work.

It’s entirely possible Zero, who works with VCRs and lived her young adult life in the late 1900s, found out about Genloss and the Founder, made the tapes with red notes and interrupting signals, in an attempt to overthrow them or prevent them from happening at all by trying to get us to help.

I’m going to think a little bit more on this tomorrow, but I am absolutely eating this stuff up!
