Yesterday was just fantastic 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 @startupgrindnbi with @csmucheru at @thefoundryafrica ... Joe is broke down his journey from the start of Wanainchi.Com now @zukufiberkenya one of the first Internet providers here in Kenya 🇰🇪 to bring one of the first Web-Developers here, to being the first ever African employee of Google to his Angel investor participation in companies like @bitpesa to his Entry in Government and the differences between working in the private sector and working in the Government he even took time to break down various Acts and Laws that are holding back development of the IT industry in Kenya 🇰🇪!!! . Maaaan if you weren’t there you missed a super session and an insight filled trip in time with one of Kenya’s most dynamic Entrepreneurs and now Government leaders! It was just intriguing to see how his journey was so disconnected that is he did so many different things but now everything has come back full circle ⭕️ and the lessons learnt in start ups are being used to implement some agendas in IT. . Biggest takeout for me was just enjoying the journey and never overthinking the future just stick to what you can do best and things will come full circle ⭕️. So many of us are caught up wondering if what we are doing will contribute to anything in the future, I guess we are overthinking instead trusting the process of growth and continuing to keep moving forward no matter what! We had a super evening yesterday listening to @karun.i.verse journey on @startupgrindnbi @thefoundryafrica !!! ~ ———— • ————— ~ Life is really interesting, I first had Karun sing back when she was in High school, we were at Kenya Music Week on behalf of our client @safaricomplc_ then on stage came this lovely young lady grabbed the Mic 🎤 and her voice was just melody!!! She could sing 🎶!!! She really blew the crowd away!!! ~ ———— • ————— ~ Jump into the future and @campmullaofficial blows up and we went all over Kenya 🇰🇪 with them, @sautisol @namelesskenya and many other artists for Safaricom Live concerts showcasing the best of Kenya to the rest of Kenya 🇰🇪! We did a lot of great content together it was a blast!! That was before 2013. ~ ———— • ————— ~ My life then changed following my accident, focused on building @thefoundryafrica and creating a space that could not only host people who needed to work but a place that people could exchange ideas and help others grow through their own stories. So to host @karun.i.verse and here her story and see her growth through all these years and to hear her plans for the future plus to see @marek__ and @julianikenya who have been part of this crazy journey and reminisce was truly awesome! ~ ———— • ————— ~ This little idea we had years ago going full circle ⭕️ and actualizing!!! Shoutout 🙌🙌🙌🙌 to the full house attendance yesterday at @thefoundryafrica for the #CatchMeIfYouCan 2019 Nairobi Layover talk by @thecatchmeifyoucan @truthslinger and @lafrohemien it was super! . So here are some stats from the audience attendance over 70% were women. After chatting with a few ladies I realized why travel 🧳 is becoming a huge part of their lives, many of them were below 35 years old. I picked a lot of insights from the attendance on the growing inner fence of travel among ladies. Travel is a clear sign of independence and especially when one is younger and has disposable income, it’s also a way of self discovery. . The biggest issues raised related to planning, transacting and safety among the ladies, men seem to be less bothered about the three their biggest worry was financing the travel. Our good friends at @vacayholidaydeals who offer pay as you travel packages were on hand to show people another way to travel that’s more cost effective so please check them out. . If your a big travel buff also checkout @skyscanner that allows you to check the cheapest ways to fly to your dream destination and plan way ahead. . Another big thing the speakers pointed out was start local then venture out.
