Do what you can, with what you have, wherever you are. Be the example is all we are really left with. And remember that the method is no less important than a grand end result. I feel humans haven't much progressed since written history and likely well before. Regression is another discussion. I would say we are generally the same as we were and always will be. So be your own light. I feel your disenchantment with the world in my heart of hearts too.

1)  Anything with pasta and meat, I fucking love pasta dishes.

1) Messing with people’s feelings can have disastrous yet predictable consequences (see the ending of School Days; tw for blood and gore).
