In the books, he marries Jeyne, of the Westerling family.  They're a minor house (formerly) sworn to the Lannisters.  She's not a medic, and really she doesn't have much backstory at all

In the show, Talisa Maegyr is a foreign-born woman, from one of the noble houses of Volantis, the free city.

also, myupostsheadcanons, I do agree that it makes for a better story! I love Martin's stories, but they're hardly without faults, and the complete lack of well, anything in the Robb/Jeyne story is one of them.  Talisa is the better character by default, by virtue of even having one.  I don't remember the bits about the moon tea, but it has certainly been awhile!

I read that George R.R. Martin wanted to make it clear, and he was afraid it wouldn’t translate well on the screen.

every moment that kid is on screen exudes nothing short of cartoonish villainy, how the hell would it not be clear?

I'm thinking of making one of those 30  day art challenge things- it'd be open to multiple mediums and prompt based, so if you get a topic like "Dragons," and want to write a story you can, or you can draw or paint or do an interpretive dance or whatever inspires you that day.
