She wasn’t going to argue with the other girl, she understood wanting to stick to her principles. But that didn’t stop Rachel wanting to help. Even if Brenda deserved it, violence was never the answer. Dropping her rucksack on the ground, the dived into it looking for something to catch some of the bleeding at least.

Handing over a fresh red t-shirt, she smiled gently. 

   “ Here, don’t worry about staining it. Must have been fate to pick that colour this morning.”

There was something exhilarating about being elected team captain for the Glader’s track team. It made him feel like he didn’t have to be nothing but numbers and facts and figures. And he liked the authority. He got to assist in choosing the ones who made it onto the team with their coach. 

Tryouts were almost over, and he finished checking off names off the list of applicants to see who came and tried out. He furrowed his brow when he realized that one applicant didn’t show up. Brenda Despain. He crossed out the name and stood up to go back to his coach, when someone called out. He turned his head and saw a girl running up to the track. He walked over to the gate of the track and leaned on it as she approached. He looked at the list and then back up. ~You Brenda?~
