Here is Eaton, in Preble County. So many farmers markets today...
Mercer County is the home to Celina and Grand Lake St. Mary's which was built as a feeder for the canal back in the 1800s. We saw said lake, a small farmers market, and a booming McDonalds. And I mean BOOMING. At 10:15. Am.
Hi from Van Wert! Our first stop this morning was VanWert county. We got our picture and then drove past the county fair. Apparently there was money in VanWert at one time because they had many awesome old homes. Had to get mom adjusted to our vibe on this stop, but now she knows what to do.
Goodness, Logan County had so much to offer! First, the courthouse was under construction so we had some fencing to deal with. Second, we parked on the oldest concrete street in america. And third, we visited the highest point in Ohio, Campbell Hill. It was pretty anticlimactic as SE Ohio has way better view and this was literally a small hill on the grounds of the career center. At the hill, we met a couple from Virginia who are visiting every state's highest point. They totally understood our trip.
Champaign County is named from the French word for "plains;" that's evident here. Their supposedly fireproof courthouse in Urbana burned down in 1948 so this newer one was built in the 50s.
Who knew Springfield was so big? Not us. Home to Wittenberg U and a lot of fast food, it was a nice stop.
Good morning,Ohio! After two long days in the car it caught up to us, and we both spent last evening just resting in the hotel room with saltines and bananas due to a bout with some "dizzies." Aka motion sickness... But with a good nights sleep and some Dramamine this morning we are good as new! Our first stop was London in Madison County. Madison county has some of the largest farms in the state so it was a journey of corn and soybeans. Good times.
