After returning from her leave back to Eternia, the valkyrie found herself docking at the Anchiem port once more, heading towards her destination half-hidden away amongst the sand. Knocking on the door, she felt a twinge of disappointment when there was no response, but gave a slight smile. She had expected he might be busy, after all. She herself would be, as well, as soon as she returned to Florem. Instead, she took out the small envelope from her pocket and slipped it under the door, before turning, heading back towards her airship.

Inside the envelope, there was a sketched portrait of Amira and Prell, as well as a small note.

"This was drawn by a street vendor. Amira asked for her nurse to be in the portrait as well, saying that you might like it. She is a beautiful and wonderfully kind child, and I am glad to have met her. Thank you for giving me this opportunity, Commander. I hope I will be able to see you again, sometime. Please stay safe.

Pulling on her tunic lightly to fix it, Einheria settled down on the blanket laid out over the freshly thawed ground. A team picnic outside had been Holly’s idea, but so far, it had been about the same as when they ate together inside, only a little colder. The commander was eating, silently as always, ever watchful over his trainees. Holly and Victor were bickering, as was becoming increasingly the norm these days. So, pretty much the exact same as usual.

…Except, of course, it was outdoors, with much more room to run around. As such, it didn’t take too long before Holly and Victor left together. Rather, Victor left, rather quickly, with Holly in hot pursuit, shouting about how much she hated the “daft four-eyed jerk!" Einheria only giggled softly. She knew Holly didn’t mean it… most of the time. Either way, if it meant she got to spend time alone with the commander…

Taking her eyes off her friends’ retreating figures, Einheria spoke. “Commander Khint… t-thank you for agreeing to accompany us out on a day off like this…” she trailed off as she turned, just in time for the weight of the spell fencer to fall against her, eliciting a startled cry. ”…C-commander?” she asked quietly after a moment, but the swordsman did not stir, his breathing deep and steady. Einheria could feel his shoulders gently rising and falling against hers. A fleeting thought entered her mind that the Commander must have been terribly overworked to fall asleep like this all of a sudden, but that very rational notion was quickly washed away as her thoughts quickly became a mix of confusion, slight panic, and… an odd sense of happiness?

What if…? Surreptitiously, and with a steadily building blush visible on her cheeks, she slowly reached her hand towards Khint’s. She’d only hold it for a moment, maybe… As soon as their fingers touched, though, Einheria’s hand shot back, almost as if she had been jolted by static, and she clutched her fists to her lap as she sat there, suddenly intensely grateful that no one around was awake to see her crimson face. No, I can’t possibly…! He’d definitely know if she held his hand, no matter how deeply asleep he looked now; he was Commander Khint, after all!

But… if it was just letting him lean on her for a nap, that should be ok with him, right? She and Holly had both fallen asleep on Victor’s shoulder before, and that had been met with nothing but annoyance on the boy’s part, so it wasn’t really as though it was a love thing…! Well, maybe with Holly, but not with her, so that should be… Taking a deep breath, Einheria shifted her weight to lean a little against the commander as well. Who knew blushing and being on mental overdrive could be so exhausting? At any rate… Holly was completely right, she thought. This picnic really had been an excellent idea.
