Today I said goodbye to my best friend.
It wasn't always an easy journey with him.
He was the most argumentative animal i've ever met! But once I figured out how to ask him, he would do anything for me.
This is the horse that would freak out over a coloured pole, But would happily jump fire for me.
This is the horse that tried to jump a 5 bar gate as a yearling with my dad hanging onto the lead rope, who ended up bending the gate and landing in a heap on the ground.
Yet he eventually went on to clear a 1mr 10 jump for me, no questions asked.
He hated show jumping but would do it for me because I asked him too. Yet he loved cross country and if you ever saw us, you knew to stay well away from the cross country machine coming towards you!
He wouldn't bat an eye at ditches or water jumps, logs or barrels, yet he would barely walk over a pole on the ground without getting upset.
He allowed me to shoot arrows from his back, ride him bareback, hold flags, swords, shields and various other strange and startling items.
I could jump him bareback with just a snaffle, and ride him calmly at the beach.
He behaved in traffic, but would take the piss a bit when we went into the sand school!
He's been my friend for almost 9 years.
A genuine 1 in a million.
There will never be another quite like him, And i'm never going to forget him.
