Business branding and raising brand awareness are two difficult tasks; re-branding is just as difficult. When a brand goes under the knife, A.K.A have cosmetic surgery, it is with the hope that the finished result is more appealing and defined, so as to attract new prospects.
This method applies to all industries. Re-branding in the music industry has seen its fair share of singers and disc jockeys attempt to reinvent themselves.
Some were successful while others were not well-received by their target market, and business plunged as a result. This failure can be attributed to a poor re-branding strategy.
Devising a sound re-branding strategy
While a name is a huge part of your branding identity, re-branding is more than just a simple name change. Puff Daddy renaming to P-Diddy to Diddy to the recently failed ‘Brother Love’ is just that– a name change.
Re-branding will sometimes involve a name-change, like us changing to The HyperDrive Team, but it is essentially centred on your image, content, intended market, and product/services.
A re-branding process involves hard work and a solid marketing strategy, but more importantly, as we realised over the past two weeks, a strong network of people who are passionate about your brand and goals.
We underestimated the amount of research, analyses, and planning which was needed to effectively get our campaign off the ground. Luckily for us, we have a team who not only act as our support cast but our ‘promote’ cast.
Expanding your audience by targeting a new market cannot be successfully achieved if you do not have a S.M.A.R.T plan in place. It will take time to achieve results, and a lot of effort to ensure that you remain on course.
Your brand needs to be at the heart of your marketing strategy. Your marketing efforts should be reflective of your character– what and who you are trying to sell.
What drives you, inspires you, but more importantly, what sets you apart. Your story is your brand! It helps to create a deep connection with existing clients and attracts new prospects.
Versatility is the name of the game
One of the worst things that can happen to a DJ is being defined– being categorised and boxed into a specific music genre.
Surely, some DJs carve their niche and are fine with being labelled since their intended audience is synced with that specific genre.
But if your goal is to remain agile and versatile, and of course, employed, then being able to display your creativity and versatility is crucial to your survival in the industry.
It is for these reasons that we have decided to re-brand into The HyperDrive Team.
