The Internet A Fair Ground For All
The internet is an amazing innovation that we have made. it allows us to instantly obtain information, quickly communicate with others, meet people, play games, read, watch movies, etc. Its most important features though, in my opinion, are allowing individuals to project who they are to the world and to be able to develop and build businesses, the internet levels the playing field. If you were starting a physical business you would need a location, permits, the place would have to be furnished and so on. This costs money. The Internet lets people develop websites that allow them to offer a product to the world without the additional costs of having a physical location. You may still need licensing and it does take time to build up an online business and a reputation but it can be done through hard-work and persistence. The internet also helps level the playing field for individuals with disabilities. It allows people to do things in a creative and unconventional way that the normal business model doesn’t allow. People with disabilities and without are able to make contacts, learn new things, and explore the world in ways that wouldn’t normally be possible. With hard-work and persistence it also allows the playing field to be leveled between individuals with a lot of money and individuals without a lot of money, sort of. Of course if you throw money at advertising word will expand about a business faster however the same thing can be achieved through word of mouth and hard-work using free social media tools and creative marketing. The internet allows your business to be more known, more quickly, more easily, to a wider audience. With power comes responsibility though and as with any business you must remain in good standing. Nobody wants to buy something or listen to someone who is constantly not holding up their end or causing problems. In conclusion the internet is an amazing tool that allows us to do more than would be possible without it, but as with any tool you have to learn how to use it first, properly, safely, and with respect.
