Well, thanks for @tanteigisachi ‘s encouragement, I thought that maybe I should start to post some of my ShinRan thoughts and headcanons. And because I have been lately thinking so much ShinRan family life, I think I start with their firstborn ;)
Truth to be told, if we ever found out which gender ShinRan's firstborn would be in canon, I believe I’m fine with everything. But I also believe that we all have our favorite headcanons about this, and I’m going to sign up for the daughter club mostly for two reasons. Or it can be more, how you wanna take it :D
The first reason is Shinichi. We all know how weak Shinichi is when it comes to Ran. That girl could just flash a smile and that boy would do anything she wants. Of course, Ran would be too nice to take advantage of it, but still… So can you imagine that moment when their little princess (let’s call her a little-Ran), who looks like her mother, would ask for something from her dad with big blue eyes (I want her to have Shinichi’s eyes!), and Shinichi would look at her knowing that he should say no, but damn it’s so hard! :'D But no, Shinichi wouldn’t give her everything even though it’s not easy for him. Because there are other people for that job, and I believe you guess who they are x)
I also love the idea of how Shinichi would teach her important (and not so important) things and he would read to her, and oh, I’m really into the idea that little-Ran would like to play football! Come on, think about how Shinichi would teach her all the tricks he knows and would play with her when she doesn’t have friends to play with. Oh, and can you imagine a little-Ran in some princess dress because she needs to go to some party with her parents and then she sees some kids playing football and she would hang on Shinichi’s hand and be like: “Daaaaad, I wanna go to play football! Just five minutes, pleeeeeaaaseee!!!” And Shinichi would gently be like: “Believe me, dad would also want to go play football than participate in this party, but because your mom thinks this is important, we need to go…”
But back to the topic: I believe you have guessed one of those who would spoil little-Ran, and this character is also another reason why I want ShinRan's firstborn to be a girl: Aunt Sonoko! Sonoko would be the godmother of ShinRan’s firstborn and anyone can’t tell me another way. Shinichi, Sonoko, and Ran have been friends like forever, so just saying, it would be a sin if she and Makoto aren’t Shinichi’s and Ran’s first child’s godparents! Heiji and Kazuha would be a good choice too, but maybe for the second child. Sonoko needs to be godmother to the first child, period!
So yeah, little-Ran has Sonoko as her godmother, and of course, aunt Sonoko would do anything for her little princess! ANYTHING! Sonoko would take the little princess shopping and she would buy her everything she wants and even more ❤ Oh, what heaven for a little girl, to get every princess dress, stuffed animals, toys, and sweet she even sees! The reason why Shinichi and Ran can’t spoil that girl too much...
But the catch is: Little-Ran would grow up and be more like his father. She wouldn’t be a big fan of shopping. Of course, if she needs something, she will go without complaining, but she doesn’t like to go shop to shop watching and buying something she doesn’t need. She actually would have better things to do. But because she is also like her mother, she doesn’t have the heart to say "no" to aunt Sonoko, because aunt Sonoko gets always so excited about it, so she would go and try to enjoy it (though I believe Sonoko wouldn't even hear if little-Ran would say no to her).
By the way, can you already hear those sarcastic arguments Sonoko and Shinichi would have about little-Ran? Because of every bad habit that Sonoko sees little-Ran having from her father, she would go to Shinichi and start to nag about it. And Shinichi would be like: “Yeah, well, what did you waited for, she is my daughter after all.” or: “Ran knew my bad habits, so stop complaining!”
I really hoped that I would have made up some good conversation for example, but… well, I didn’t...
And then there would be, who else than grandmother Yukiko! She would also take her little princess shopping and would buy her everything! And Yukiko would always have something to little-Ran, if not clothes or toys, then sweet. And Shinichi would be annoyed about it and in the end, he would tell her to stop spoil his child, but of course, Yukiko wouldn’t even hear that xD
