Another chamber opens, where food and drinks are waiting for them, all three making their way knowing better than to say something against it, just hoping that whatever the test was the two off them would make it through
In the room Toshi looked at the things he had been asked to do, it had been a little odd, but it had told him more about what the test they wanted to do was for. As a small door opened, a smaller faerie flew in and took the two items with what he could only imagine was a smile, before it disappeared outside again.
He walked around the room, wondering slightly what Derek was doing, and what they would be doing with these test things. He had an idea, but still, he wasn’t sure. All he knew what that he did not like the situation.
“The first test begins now, tell us what letter is the real one.”
The door opened again, and a faerie came back in, putting down two letters in front of Toshi, while another did the same in Derek’s room. Toshi sitting down with the two letters reading them both, then reading them again. He sighed, they seemed so alike, like they were both written by the same person, how was he supposed to know which one was real. Shaking his head he took them both up again reading them once more, before putting them back down. It was nice reading, they were all the things he would love to hear Derek tell him but telling them apart, that was a whole different ballgame.
He sighed, picking them up a third time, wondering if Derek had any similar issues on his end when he noticed it. It wasn’t much, but there was a line in one, that said he would love for Toshi to meet his kids one day, but Derek had told him that his kids were probably no longer alive, so why would he want him to meet them? He quickly took up the other letter and looked at it, with no mention of the kids.
He read them again, and once more, but it was the kids that kept coming back to his mind, and in the end, that had him make the choice, taking the letter without the kids, and holding that in his hand.
“This one is the real one.”
The door opened again, and the same faerie came inside, took the letter in his hand, and vanished, leaving him to his thoughts and his uncertainty if this was the right letter, or if he had messed things up.
