KINGDOM PERSPECTIVE ON SEXUALITY This October has been #ClergyAppreciationMonth and in celebrating and acknowledging my pastor @sirlouisii of @therockbrooklyn, I want to highlight something about his ministry that I find extremely necessary for a Christian lifestyle based on the Kingdom of God & not mere church tradition Pastor Louis Straker Jr. has NO PROBLEM with addressing the idea of sex or sexuality in modern society on the pulpit with biblical context.... NO PROBLEM The reason I highlight this in particular is based on the fact that most clergymen stay clear of this subject on a Sunday morning or afternoon, an observation that has totally frustrated me in the past. However, Pastor Straker however dives right into that topic whenever necessary & he does it acknowledging that as Christians, we are all 1) sexual beings 2) privy to the laws of attraction to the opposite sex 3) know the different relationship parameters that exist for the spouse, the boy/girlfriend and yes, even the "sidepiece" & he shares these teachings with the aim to illustrate what God expects of us, not only in Godly courtships leading to marriage, but also in how we serve Jesus as Savior & LORD & how we understand his grace in spite of our shortcomings In his recent sermon called "Kingdom Infidelity", Pastor not only spoke on how the marriage covenant can only be dissolved based on sexual immorality (and even then, the couple has the option to work through it if they choose to do so for the greater good of God's purpose), he used it to help us examine not only own commitment with God and challenged us to guard our flesh against things we easily go back to based on our past & that goes with everything from the clothes we wear to "that second look" that can easily move from attraction to lust Needless to say, it was a dense & informative teaching and it's among the many reasons why I appreciate Pastor Straker Jr for all he'sdoung as a shepherd of the house.... Very surely, he is helping me regain my full trust in pastor leadership again #PastorLouisStrakerJr #TheKerux #ReflectionsOfChristKingdom #ThankYouPastorStrakerJr #ROCKBrooklyn #Pastors #Leadership #EngagingTheCulture
