Your childhood time period seems like the same time my oldest sister grew up. ^_^ I wish I grew up then…I think I was born a decade late. And I’m sorry to hear about your dad :( but, that was a really sweet thing for you to do for your mother.

I was born in December of 1980. So yes, I am very much looking forward to the 70s, 80s, and 90s stuff pack. ;)

It's okay - it was a really long time ago and we've both dealt with it, although of course we both still miss him and I wish I'd had more time with him - she says I'm just like him. *hugs*

Hurrhurr! It would even have a meaning (you don't really have to read this, I'm just sharing): When I was little I got really pissed at my chronical disease (diabetes, the child-kind with no known causes) and I thought it was like this monster, holding me back and pulling my strings and never lets me do what I want, like it's the boss of me. Then, I don't know why, an image of a big monster squid popped into my head, holding a bottle of insulin in one of its tentacles. Probably being all "I got you in my grip, now you gotta take this insulin even if you don't want to or I'll kill you, hahaa!" or something, lol.

So thekillingsims asked for yellow! :) I got all verbose, like always, so I'll put it under a cut.

Seven facts about my childhood:

I grew up in the same town that Andy Griffith grew up in. We have a whole tourism industry based around that. The day he died was a black day in my town. I don’t live there anymore, but I imagine there was sobbing and crying and screaming and rending of garments in the streets.

I am old. I am so old that the favorite thing to do at my daycare was to gather around the TV and play…the NINTENDO! Yes, the original, with the blowing in the cartridges and everything! Other kids would narrate the games as they were played, and they were so funny that this one kid would sometimes pee his pants in the morning before the bus came. My favorite toy was My Little Pony. The originals! The big ones from the 80s. The current cartoon may be better than the 80s cartoons, but the toys - oh man. They weren’t these tiny tiny things back then. They were decently sized, and they were awesome! My username comes from my two favorite ponies - Medley and Princess Misty. :) I absolutely refused to wear pants until third grade. Before then, it was always dresses and skirts. After then, I refused to wear dresses and skirts. Last time I wore a dress was high school graduation. My childhood best friend and I once bounced balls against the side of the porch at my house while singing The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air theme song. We were internet cool before the internet! ;) I still have my elementary school library’s copy of A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court. I think I was the only person to have checked it out in years anyway. Umm - I hate to end on a sad note, but well - my father died one day of a heart attack when I was in first grade, a bit more than a month after I turned seven. I remember my mother howling and sobbing, and I colored a two page spread in my Care Bears coloring book, wrote “Cheer up” across the top, and put it on the bathroom mirror for her to see.
