The Kremlin’s Candidate is the third book in the Red Sparrow trilogy from Jadon Matthews. “Dominika is up for promotion to Director of the SVR (Russian counterintelligence) but the Russians have a mole that may soon be the new director of the CIA.” Book starts a little slowly and story drags a bit. Too many descriptions for an espionage novel. The last third is good even though the graphic torture scene is a bit much. There is no fairytale ending like you might expect. And Dominika is still one of the baddest characters, male or female, you will ever read. Interesting to see Matthews’s comments on politics interfering with getting things done. Every organization has people more interested in turf than productivity.
