A few years ago I have come across a language game, which sadly shut down recently, but I have just found another with exactly the same system! I think it is perfect for people who like to listen to different languages, or who wonder what X language sounds like. Plus, if you’re currently learning a language and you come across your TL (target language) and you recognise it, you will feel so proud!
How does it work?
You are given 3 lives. The game plays an audio extract of - usually - speeches or TV reports in a random language. You get a few choices, and you have to select which language you think it is! Don’t worry, the extracts are usually long enough for you to fully hear the sounds, and if you have a doubt, you can repeat it as much as you want.
What I like about this game is that it doesn’t discriminate against languages that are less spoken. You are as likely to come across Spanish as Hausa or Oromo!
Do you want to try it? Just go here.
I’d be curious to know what languages surprised you, or your general reactions :D
Thank you so much to everyone who applied to join The Langblr Net, it really means a lot and I’m in awe at the response that this network has gotten. Originally, I was only going to choose 20 people to join as members at the moment, however, after receiving more than 70 applications I changed my mind.
Out of the 70 applicants I managed to select 35 people to join the net, please don’t be disheartened if you were not picked this time around, It was a really tough choice because everyone one of you were amazing and I found it incredibly difficult to choose only 35 of you.
Please keep in mind that this will not be the only time applications are open, there will be times in the future where applications will open, and if you weren’t chosen this time then you can always apply next time!
Once again thank you to everyone, and without further ado, here are the new members of The Langblr Net:
