The Last Leaf on the Branch
In the quiet park stood an old tree that had lost almost every leaf. One single yellow leaf remained, trembling in the evening wind. A boy sat beneath it, waiting for the leaf to fall so he could catch it and make a wish.
Days passed. The leaf held on. The boy grew impatient and almost left. Then an elderly gardener walked by and said, “Sometimes the things that stay the longest are the ones teaching us to wait.”
The boy returned the next morning. The leaf was still there. He no longer wished for it to fall. Instead he sat quietly, watching the light move across its surface. When it finally drifted down, soft and slow, he did not catch it. He simply smiled, understanding that some gifts arrive only after we stop demanding them.
He walked home lighter, carrying no leaf, only the quiet lesson that patience itself can be the wish fulfilled.
