Thank you.
Papyrus waited for Sans in the living room, his hands clasped together as he sat on the sofa. So many memories in this house. So many good things. A lot of bad, too, and a lot of arguments... But so much good, and a lot of experiences altogether. Papyrus wouldn't trade them for the world.
Sans had received at text from Papyrus that his little bro wanted to speak to him. Things were way busier and more chaotic for the two, especially with Pap expecting and all. Sans was going to be an uncle and he was concerned that there just wasn't enough room in the house for a baby, too. Not unless they turned the Guest Room into a nursery, but that couldn't happen, since that was Sunny's room. He knew... that this conversation was going to be something he had kind of been avoiding thinking about.
"HELLO, SANS." Papyrus smiled, gesturing for him to sit, "DID YOU HAVE A GOOD DAY AT WORK?"
"yeah. worked myself to the bone, i'd say." This was the part where Papyrus would have screamed at him for such an awful pun, but instead, the taller skeleton began to laugh, shaking his head, "OH YES. ME TOO!"
Yep. Definitely this was going to be THE talk that he had been avoiding. It was a sure sign since Papyrus was laughing at his jokes. Oh boy.
"hey, pal, you said you had something big to tell me about... so.... might as well get it over with before i run off, you know me, a big coward."
Papyrus looked offended, and he shook his head once more, "SANS, YOU'RE NOT A COWARD... YOU'RE AMAZING. YOU STUCK AROUND, EVEN WHEN I MYSELF RAN AWAY. YOU'RE THE BRAVEST BROTHER I KNOW!!! AND... I THINK... STICKING BY ME NO MATTER WHAT... I CAN'T THANK YOU ENOUGH FOR IT. I REALLY LOVE YOU, SANS."
Oh jeez. Here it comes. Sans rubbed his neck, feeling himself get embarrassed, "aw geez, pap. you're gonna make me blush. but seriously, what's up?"
"... WELL.. SANS, YOU KNOW THAT LETRASET AND I ARE HAVING A BABY!! VERY SOON. I'VE HEARD THAT IT COULD BE ANY DAY NOW, APPARENTLY... AND.. WELL..." His face falls. Seems this would be more difficult than previously anticipated... "...YOU SEE! THAT IS..."
"you're moving out."
For both of them to hear it, out loud... It was hard. This was hard. All of it was really, really hard. Papyrus nodded his head slowly, hands clasped more tightly. "..WE... WE DON'T HAVE A PLACE YET, BUT... WE'RE GOING TO MOVE, YES. STILL REMAIN IN THIS TIMELINE! JUST... LIVE CLOSER TO THE WOODS, ON THE EDGE OF IT, YOU SEE. THAT WAY I CAN STILL DRIVE TO WORK! AND I CAN STILL COME SEE YOU WHENEVER AND IT'S HONESTLY JUST A MUCH BETTER OPTION. I'M SURE LETRASET KNOWS I COULDN'T LIVE UNDERGROUND AGAIN."
"better option... huh." sans smirked, shoving his hands in his pockets. He knew Papyrus was right. This house was way too cramped... And there were a ton of good memories, but... it was time for a change. It's not like he hadn't gotten used to Pap not being around; just the thought that Papyrus wasn't going to live in the house anymore was pretty sad.
"I'M REALLY NOT RUNNING AWAY. THIS IS THE OPTION THAT MAKES A LOT OF SENSE! BUT LETRASET STILL WORKS IN HIS TIMELINE, AND I STILL WORK HERE, AND I WILL ALWAYS COME VISIT YOU. WE WON'T BE FAR AWAY."
"... just. gonna be weird is all. 've gotten so used to having you around that i just... never really thought about you moving out." Sans had always been used to losing Papyrus, not seeing Papyrus leave voluntarily... At least, in good state of mind. That space fiasco was bad for everyone. But this was nothing like that. Papyrus wasn't leaving in a panicked state, he was thinking of his future family. Of the baby. Papyrus lowered his head and scooted closer, pulling his brother into a tight hug.
"I'M GOING TO MISS LIVING HERE, SANS. I'M GOING TO MISS EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS HOUSE... I'M GOING TO MISS EVERYTHING ABOUT YOU, TOO. YOUR MESSES, YOUR BAD JOKES, YOUR MUSIC, YOUR FOOD CHOICES..." A little sniffle, "I'M GOING TO MISS YOU."
Oh jeez the waterworks. "h-hey, come on, pal... you said you'd come visit... don't cry, man, if you cry, then i'm gonna cry, then buttons is gonna cry, then scraps is gonna show up and laugh at us big babies... hheh heh......" Who was he kidding. Sans hugged his brother back tight, closing his eyes and burying his face in Pap's shoulder.
The two held each other like that for a while, quiet. And then they began to recount stories... from the past year and a half. Everything they'd been through, the friends, the fights, the games, the jobs. They began to laugh together, and eventually sans slipped out to the kitchen, and came back with two beers.
Papyrus blinked and began to laugh, taking one from his brother. They clinked bottles and giggled.
Sans grinned wide, "to my lil' bro, way braver than me even if he moves a little too fast for the world for his big bro to catch up."
"AND TO MY BIG BROTHER, WAY LESS COWARDLY THAN ME!! EVEN IF HE MOVES A LITTLE TOO SLOWLY FOR HIS LITTLE BROTHER. NYEH HEH HEH!"
Tonight, they would drink together and hang out.... as brothers.
